I got a call from 888-821-0022. There was a hesitation just after I answered, a sure sign of suspicion. A recorded voice said it was from the Hackensack University Medical Hospital business office asking me to return the call. When I did, the woman who answered told me I owed money for a hospital stay. I had already paid my hospital invoice. I told her this, then she said to disregard the call. I suspect this is an attempt to get money from unsuspecting former patients who had stayed at Hackensack University Medical Center.

NO. That was probably a legit phone call. I get them a lot, because I had a CAT scan done, and there was still a small balance due on my account. About $15.00 or so. Everytime they do a scan at Hackensack, A small bill comes later from the remainder of what my insurance did not pay. If you call back you should be told you recently had a procedure done, and that this is a SMALL amount due after they billed your insurance company.

They are legit. I received a call from this number in regards to a bill from HUMC.

Is the number real? Could be. Is the caller who they say they are? Maybe not. It is so simple to change the caller ID on a phone call to make it appear to be anything the caller wishes. NEVER give out personal, or financial information on a call you did not make, from a number you verified as correct.

Yes this is Hackensakc Medical Center. They are harassers. My husband and I pay our medical bills. He just made a payment and they are harassing me daily several times a day. And WE ARE PAYING THE BILL! Off to the better business bureau.
People if they are harassing you and you are paying your medical bills file a complaint. Maybe with enough complaints we can file a civil suit for unethical behavior and business practices!!!!
