Lady left message saying there was a lawsuit against me and that I needed to call this number (the one I’m posting about now). I’ve never received anything in the mail so it was probably a scam.

It is absolutely a scam. Ignore and block these calls.

If you were the subject of a pending civil lawsuit, you'd have received a letter from the specific attorney for the other party.  You'd have a paper trail.

Then, if a case was filed, you'd have received a summons delivered to you by someone licensed to serve process in your locality.  You would NOT have first heard about any civil law case from some scammery-scummery debt collector who cold calls you and starts demanding money.

You can check this out yourself by simply going down to the local main civil court and checking the defendants civil list.  The court clerks are usually glad to help and are familiar with these kinds of scams.

They called and stated like the others, that there was a judgement/lawsuit being filed against me. They called themselves QB & Associates. I was so shooked up, I believed them and went through the whole process of setting up payments, including giving them my debit card #. Then I went online to find more about them. I couldn't find anything. I called my bank and reported my card stolen at that moment before they could process it. I pride myself of being more vigilant and wise. I hate to admit I was fooled. Thank God I had the where withall to check up on them.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

This number left a voicemail for myself and a friend, stating there was potential court action being taken against me blah blah blah. I figured it was a spam but just in case I called. Sounded normal until the guy asked me to confirm the last 4 of my social and I told him I wouldn’t give any personal information until he told me who his business was and what the debt is for. He quickly said “have a nice day” and hung up. SPAM!!

I received this same message about legal action and collecting debt. This isn't the first time I've received [***] calls like this,  when I called the number they provided back I purposefully gave them a phoney case number which they still supposedly were able to look up my "case file "  I proceeded to tell the gentlemen I spoke with that what they were doing was disgusting and that I knew in fact this was a scam and not to call my phone again. He proceeded to tell me that I would have a warrant out blah blah blah. Laughed in his face told him to not call my phone again and that they were wasting their time, they would not receive any money or any personal information about me. This is a complete scam. Please do not give them any of your info.

    Tired of Daily Messages
Received the same voicemail but from Lena Davis. She indicated a lawsuit claim had been passed down to her firm for processing and actually gave one of our names. She rattled off her toll free number so fast it took a couple of times for me to hear it all. Yes, caller ID showed “Private number”. We don’t answer the phone unless we know who it is. We are smart enough not to pay attention, but I feel sorry for the older crowd who would not know better.

Called my place of employment (which is not allowed ) and said she was calling about legal docs that I need to claim and sign for, which is due to a pending lawsuit.  My credit is good and I have no pending court dates or outstanding debt to anyone.  It was obviously a scam.
