I am having problems stopping this from happening.  I called my bank, canceled my bankcard and ordered a new one to stop these fees from coming out.

This is causing a great inconvenience because I do not have access to my own money until this is all straightened out.

It's a good thing I belong to Wachovia Bank.  They are very good about assisting their customers with these type of problems.

This is not the American way!

U will be persuaded as much as possible to buy whatever they say they are selling.  Even if u say no they ALREADY have your credit card number.  Hmmmm, how did they get your credit card number? They will manipulate u and twist your words to benefit them.  If your number is registered and private they can in some way get your phone number.  U will begin to see charges of $24.99 for a subscription on your credit card.  An 800 number will show next to the charge on your statement. As soon as u cancel, they will add a different 800 number. U will be charged once again under the different 800 number.  It is a never ending battle.  If this is happening to u, contact your credit card company ASAP.  If possible CLOSE the account. Most banks will work with u. It is IMPORTANT to dispute the charge within 60 days, preferably 30.

This is just another way for indecent Americans trying to make it rich quick by thievery.  I guess it has become immoral to work hard for your money.

The best thing I can recommend, is to call your bank and let them know you informed this company that you wanted to cancel the charge before it even got there, and they charged your card anyways, and your bank will put it in as an unauthorized transaction and block the company from billing you anymore.
The recorded voice will not hold up in court because they splice the messages together, and there is no law that says that you cannot cancel a service, and you have no financial obligation to continue a service, they cannot make a contract with you that says that you cannot cancel.

My cell phone kept receiving 'unavailable' phone calls for two days. As I was leaving work one day, I decided to just answer it. It was a salesperson who said as a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card holder I was entered into a sweepstakes and was selected. As I was driving home, the salesperson informed me that as a 'thank you for being a good customer' I had won a free watch. I had the option of choosing men's or lady's style. I was then transferred to another agent who congratulated me on my new watch and proceeded to offer me four magazine subscriptions that would actually interest me for only $4.99 a month. I accepted and I gave her my debit card info. I was then given a thorough list of detailed confirmation numbers (Ex: an order number, the salesperson's name, an authorization code, and some other type of number) for me to write down for my records. She then summed up my magazine choices totaling $59.99 a month. What??!! I immediately told her I could not afford this amount. She understood and offered me a discount of $49.99 a month. Again, I told her that would be impossible. She assured me that I didn't need to pay immediately. I could pay later when a phone call would alert me to when I would actually be billed. I told her I think I changed my mind. She then said she was going to do this for me, I was going to get her employee rate of $35 a month. I politely declined and explained that I knew this wasn't the best thing for me. Then the questions came: "Why are you changing your mind? What's making you change your mind now? You agreed before, why now?" I told her I did not want another bill. This went back and forth for awhile. Her last words were, "Well obviously I can't make you do anything you don't want to do." Happy that she was finally relenting, I thanked her for going over everything with me. I heard the phone hang up on me in the middle of my sentence. I'm 21, kind, and obviously naive but not stupid. I was worried this person had my banking info. I checked my banking and found a pending $1 fee charge from a I-888-854-4706 number and the word 'magazine' before it. No company name, no address. My mother searched the Internet with this number and found this webpage! I immediately called my bank and they are issuing me a new account number due to this unauthorized charge.

I know now what questions to ask and how to ask them. I've learned alot and I'm grateful for not being burned worse. I hope my story helps someone out there.

Person selling magazines manipulated my son and told him to give him the bankcard number in order to validate who my son was....being a young teenager, he gave it to them.  My son also stated that he could not afford what the person was stating to him that the charges for these so-called magazines were.  I took the phone from my son, and told the person that my son won't tell him no because he is nice, but I WILL.  The salesman said that he could ONLY speak to my son.  I said, he doesn't want these, and BUH-Bye.  Next thing I know, there's an authorization on my son's account to verify that it is a real one.  I called the number back, and asked for a supervisor, the lady wouldn't give me one.  Then I asked what the name of the company was, repeatedly, and she informed me that she was going to hang up on me and did so before telling me the name.  If there isn't anything wrong happening, why wouldn't she just give me the name?

People like these kill kindness in the world. I'm young and completely ignorant to scams thinking, "It won't happen to me." Never felt like such an idiot like this before.

So they call me while I'm on the road driving to a friend's house, offering that since I had either a Visa, Master, Discover card, etc. I was entered into a contest. I think "Well, that sounds interesting" and so this 'authentic', 'new' operator named Delores or Deborah sweetly suckers me into purchasing four magazines on topics I don't really like. But I am too nice for my own good. They say it will cost $4.99 per week for 60 months. I ask if I have to participate for the full 5 years. They said they had an excellent customer support so I wasn't bothered. So, now I've signed up for this and being transferred to her supervisor for confirmation - we chattered about pointless anecdotes for I thought this was a frail old lady and I didn't want to be rude - then all of these charges start coming up. I couldn't think straight, I just want to end the call (at this point they were stealing my minutes) and the quickest way was to just agree with almost everything; there was an additional $29.99 charge for a "trial" offer.

At this point I know I'm being robbed, so I politely decline but he keeps pushing it. For five hours after wards I was concerned, but couldn't check my account. As soon as I got home, I saw the $1 confirmation charge plus $49.90 charge and processing. Immediately I called my card company and close the account. Now I have to wait until Monday to dispute the charges with my bank. I found this site after Googling the number associated with the confirmation charge. Two things came into my mind while they made this charge: the recurring payments would dwindle my account and if they already had my card number, who else did? I'm glad I stopped any continuous charge, and just the first charge. I hate the fact I actually agreed to a spoken statement; good luck trying to prove that was my voice.

What irritates me the most is I vowed never to answer an 'unavailable' number ever. But it kept calling me back. I had to stop it somehow. Maybe I need a new phone number too. I'm so angry but glad it was my identity that was stolen.

Got call from 1-888-854-4706. Girl on other end had my son give her his credit card number, and after he hung up  told his dad. We told him that he just got scam out of his tax money. Looked on his credit card summary saw transaction, and noticed phone number. Tried to call back number and they stated only open M-F, 8-9 pm. The only way they got his name and number were off his tax filing.

I ordered some magazines from this STUPID company about in october. They gave me there bull story about how its cheaper and blah blah blah, so i gave them my debit card number and paid 75 dollars that day. I know it was stupid on my part, but it sounded good at the moment. I figured the next day that i could have used that money to pay my car insurance so i tried calling that number back and none of the numbers i found for them worked!! Imagine that. so i called the bank and got my money back through them and canceled all future payments that they tried to take out. I got a call from a number about a month later after i started receiving magazines and they told me that i owed them money. i told them no, that i got my money back and to please stop sending me magazines and that i wanted to cancel any future magazines that they had coming. well they are still coming...and i can not get ahold of them at that number to tell them i dont want any!!! now i have letters from CCSI debt collector company saying i owe 2,400 dollars!!!! for those stupid magazines and that they are going to bring me to court!! ive tried talking to them and they dont want to listen. the last girl i talked to called me stupid and told me she would see me in court!! WUT THE HELL!! I am soo mad. i dont want this to ruin my credit or prevent me from ever getting a house loan!! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!

the same exact thing happened to me today! this "unknown number" has been calling me for days now so one morning i decided to answer. she told me it was gonna be only $4.99 per week so i stupidly agreed even though i dont read that many magazines. when she asked me for my credit card number i was skeptical to give it to her so she gave me this info of hers, to make her 'trust her', her name, company name and address:

    Laure Charity
    employee number 2285
    IRS
    3409 Virginia Beach Blvd.
    Virginia Beach, VA 23453

so for some reason i agreed. when she told me i was actually being charged around $63 i declined because i don't have the money to pay for 19 months that amount of money. i immediately cancelled and she started to get rude and raised her voice at me. the conversation ended with me cancelling the order and her hanging up on me. I checked my account right after and a $1 was pending charge. i called my bank and told them about what just happened to me, they said i had to wait until they charged the monthly fee so i can dispute it.

My question is, should i change my account number? my credit cards? i don't know what to do!
