I received a call from this number assumed it was a scam. They tried to get me to send them a picture of my drivers license

I got a call to and they have my address and said they are coming by my house and I need to forms of id

They called me too! Said that I need two forms of ID and I are coming by house

Call came from blocked number. Said they were calling a person calling about "sealed legal documents" and said they were stopping by this persons workplace (this person wasnt me) and listed their address in the voicemail. Pretty sure its one of those scams about fake debt where they threaten to serve you papers at work.

Well it was my name on there..not sure if this is legal or what I should do

I've fallen for a scam like this before. They threaten to come to your home or your workplace, they never come. They just want you to call them back so they can get information out of you about a fake debt. They are very skilled, its best to not talk to them.

Yes this number called me and That I had “sealed legal documents sai they were trying to deliver papers to my address but the one provided was at a old ex-girlfriends address. Suspected it to be a scam

The fake process server/location finder extortion attempt usually consists of the following:

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

Called my mother in law regarding her son (my husband) I called them back and they refused to give me any information.

Called under a blocked number on Cell Phone and this 888 number on work phone. Left voicemails stating they had sealed documents that I would need to sign for at my residence and to wear a mask, or they would try another address or my place of employment.  Said to call another number and reference a file number. File number is the same number that was referenced in a text message that I received on Monday, claiming they would be delivering documents to my home address. No such documents ever appeared.  It's a scam debt collector trying to scare people into calling them back.

I received a vmail with the same thing saying I need to make myself available at my home address to received sealed documents and also have an HR person there to witness my signature and I needed to supply 2 forms of ID.

I had the same experience. They called my mothers house leaving a VM threatening to have me served or whatever their spiel is.

Same scenario!   Never mentioned my name “this message is for the resident @ the address given”
And you need to sign court documents, have a witness and 2 forms of ID. There will be a driver arriving at this address today.

I received similar call but it was not my name they were using....why doesn't someone do something about these scammers.

Received a call from this number stating they are going to file legal documents in my jurisdiction. Also receiving text messages- as is my mother in regards to a claim. They ask me to reference a claim number. They state they need to hear from me or they will make a decision on my behalf. My husband called and they refused to give any information then they claimed to be a debt collector. Why haven't they sent a letter to my house? This seems bogus

Left this number to return call about some legal document for another name that wasn’t mine.  Caller ID was 833-422-3481.
