This same 800 number called my son today and told him that they were going to subpena him for a court case against me for debt.  Number one, they have the wrong name , number two, I called back and recieved a very flippant and arrogant response.  They are looking for another person, they are not legitimate because there is really no court case.  This is only a scam to get you send them money.
Please , please do not every send money to someone who calls you on the phone and threatens to send a subpena for a case you do not even know about or have recieved official paperwork on.

I received several threatening phone calls in a matter of a week that said they needed me to call them back within 2 hours so they could serve me papers. Then they said they were going to send my case to the fraud department. For one thing, you do not get served any type of summons over the phone, or by mail. Usually it is served to your door, by a police officer or an official party representing the courts. This is a scam to obtain your personal information, and/or money.

Got a threatening voice message from someone named Kevin Campbell at 888 865 4968 today, saying we needed to call back within two hours to arrange to be served with legal documents, and that someone needed to be here sometime within the next three days between 9am and 4pm to accept service.  Had no idea what they were calling about, we have no debt or legal trouble.  Called back and received the voice mail for WCG & associates.  We looked them up and found they are scammers.  File a complaint if they call you, after telling them to f**k off.

All you guys are just looking for a way out of paying your bills, I guarantee you that if you are trying to clean up your credit there is no other way other than to pay the company who either ownes your old debt or is servicing the debt. I challenge everyone on here to call the original creditor and ask how you can take care of it, they will send you to the company you need to pay and you will end up paying these guys if you want to really take care of it. Excuses, excuses find a way to pay all you guys are just trying to find a reason not to pay.

I received a call from a ms. dilby and she needed me to call back within two hours to arrange to be served with legal documents, between 9am and 4pm to accept service. she kept repeating legal action, legal documents, ill be served if I dont call back. all a bunch of [***]. i have NO DEBT!!! they called from a 404-647-5173 but left an 888 number. and they do sound legit but they are not!!! they are so full of crap!! tell em to suck it!!

Now there calling neighbors anfd leaving on there answer machine what should i do they claim they are from the fraud deptartment and want to turn over to the aurothities any lastest up date please hbelp

Things happen in peoples lives "bone"head.  Divorce, unforseen medical emergencies, deaths, lay offs, etc.

Don't make a judgment comment until you know everyone's situation.  I hope you never have a situation where you can't make your house or car payments because you got laid off when the auto industry went belly up and your 140,000 per year salary turned to zero.

Or your significant other was in a horrible accident and is now unable to work anymore and you have to try to make it by on Social Security Disability payments.

Fake "debt collection" scams often use shill posts to attempt to appear "legitimate".

Check your credit reports, and see if they are trying to con you into paying a fake "debt" they made up from information on your own credit report.

Contact FTC and the FBI.

This is basically a con and an extortion racket.

Report it to the FTC.

They are already investigating another fake "debt" collection racket in southern California.
This might be the same people under another front name, or it might be a different one.

FTC just sued a large group of collection agencies located in the city of Corona, alleging numerous violations of debt collection laws.

If you are having any problems with illegal debt collection practices, and in particular if they are coming from a collection agency in southern California, or near Corona CA, contact FTC.

I BELIEVED THESE PEOPLE...MARY WALSH....DONA BUCK....THEY HAVE BEEN TAKING MY MONEY SINCE NOVEMBER 2010....AND NOW WHEN I CALL THE NUMBER 888-865-4968 IT SAYS IT IS NO LONGER IN SERVICE.....SO WAS I GETTING SCAMMED THIS WHOLE TIME AND CAN I GET MY MONEY BACK THAT I HAD LOST???

Got a call kinda similar to one above they called my mother thats in a assisted living center that they had a summons for me with a case number. I got him back believe his name was jon daniels. I asked 3 or more times what debt this was and he kept repeating cornerstone after several attempts to figure out who the heck he was. He said this was a debt that occured back in 2008 I know its been 4 years but get yourself together. WTH!! He broke all kinds of FDCPA laws. I have contacted the state attorney to see how to file charges.

You just need to accept the fact there are con-artists out there trying to scare people into giving them personal info just so they can steal their identity and hack their bank accounts. Stupid idiot.
