I got an e-mail from these people stating that my U.S.D.E account was transfered to these people.

I called the U.S.D.E number on my last statement, and after putting in my information for my account, the Automated system for U.S.D.E confirmed it.

Not sure what put it as, so I'll leave it as unknown (I'd say debt Collector, but not that type)

It is MOHELA, a student loan company. I am past due with my student loans but I have scheduled a payment with them, and they are still calling.

I don't have any student loans, so I don't know how they got my number or why they are calling.

I got a call from them. I asked to speak to a supervisor as I have never had a student loan, I may have co-signed for one though. They said they couldn't connect me to a supervisor because they couldn't identify me because the phone call was an automatic dial and they needed my identity before they could connect me.  If I was making a call to collect a debt, I would at least use equipment that could record the number called. Strange outfit. At least they identified themselves, so I think they might be a legitimate company. trying to do a job with fly by night equipment.

MOHELA, a servicer for my Direct Loan government-owned student loans.  I am behind on payments, they called to remind me.  It is a legitimate company and phone call.

Got a call but when I said hello they hung up. My Mohela loan is in deferment until December, it's just October. Don't know why they called. Maybe it was an accidental call on their end.

Yeah, it's Mohela.  I wouldn't go as far as to call them a legitimate company though.  They use multiple numbers to call and always use robots to make the calls.  If they haven't figured out by now that I don't answer calls from unknown numbers, then shame on them.  Try sending legitimate mail about what they're problem is and maybe I'll respond.

Mohela - this is not a debt collector. It is a student loan processor of Stafford, etc, loans. You will only get a call if you have a loan from them and have deferments close to expiring, are behind in your payments, etc. If they call you they have not yet referred you to a debt collector. It would be prudent to call them back unless you are planning to default. Actually they are far less of a pain to deal with than Sallie Mae, another student loan processor.

Actually they call you in advance of your deferment ending. I just got a call for the same reason. They want to make sure you have plenty of warning to fill out the paperwork to either extend the deferment or get your payment plan reactivated again.

No one here on this website can do that.  Invest in a call blocker and do not pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.

called for a person not known in our home..... leaves no message. One of the many scammers calling all the time

Got the call..  i finally answer it after searching here ..  it was for my EX Wife  LOL.. i had them remove me as a contact

I have never had a student loan.  I've have blocked calls from them.  They just end up calling from another number. Same crap.  Don't answer.  Definitely not legitimate.
