No VM. Caller ID says United Healthcare

Call back gets, "You have reached a non-working number at United Healthcare.  If you are enrolled with United Healthcare medical benefits, please call the number on your most recent ID card.  If you are a medical service provider please call 877-824-3210."  So it appears to be a number that UHC uses to send messages but does not receive calls.  If you are a UHC member, it behooves to call the number on your card to uncover the reason for the call.

That may be so, but in this case either they failed at their job, since there was no message, or scammers spoofed the number, knowing that the Caller ID should show "United Healthcare" and were expecting "TommyG " to answer.

I agree.  Certainly spoofing is a possibility but at least they're getting smarter with instructions to call number on card.  For the life of me I can't think why these companies would be doing any cold calling at all, given the amount of fraud and identity theft.  My health care company sometimes calls with "special offers."  Seriously?  Do they think people benefit from these calls?  To quote young Mr. Charlie Brown, "Good grief!"  Cheers, Nimrod.  :-)
