We also received a fraudulant charge for 9.70 from this GAMMA 888-869-2203.  Have no idea who they are. Tried to call them at that number and get strange message on an answering machine.  They do not state a company name only say to leave a message.

    getting state attorney general involved
Fraudulent charge of $9.20 on my credit card today.  These people better close up shop.  This falls under federal jurisdiction too as it's interstate fraud.  The charge is from "GAMMA 888-869-2203 TX" and my credit card company says the fraudulent transaction description is for a hobby toy and games shop.  I've already filled out the affidavit of fraud and will file it tomorrow.  If this has happened to you, don't call the telephone number as they'll then have yours to call and harass you with.  Do a charge back with your credit card company, reporting it to them, and to your state attorney general's office.

GAMMA 888-869-2203, TX for $9.25 appeared on my bank statement.  I called it to find out what it was and all I got was "Sorry, we are unavailable right now.  Please leave a message." *something along those terms* by a man in a weird accent.
I have no idea what this is. This is the second time Ive gotten a fradulant charge on my bank account (it says POS Debit as transaction type)... but I have my debit card.  I dont live in TX... and the last place that pulled money out of my account was in LA and when I emailed and called them asking for a refund, I got an answer by email saying they refunded it.... but I never gave them any information other than my first name and email...
I have lifelock, but they say they only cover identity theft and not anything to do with my bank.

How do I get rid of this fake charge!

This is a fraudulent charge on my bank account.
    04/30/2008    DEBIT PURCHASE -9.20  GAMMA 888-869-2203 TX

I caught it right away and called the bank. I didn't bother to call the number on the statement. That will only give them access to your phone # too. It needs to be formally reported to your bank and they will investigate. I believe my card # was compromised by paying for an Equifax credit score (ironically). I got hit by that liberia.com $2.95 charge a few months ago. My mistake for letting that one slide. My accounts were immediately closed this time. I'm also going to report this to the FTC as well. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/cards.shtm

    S.O.L.
i get antsy and do stupid things sometimes... like immediately calling the phone number on my online statement when i saw the $9+ charge.  i wish i would have read this first because i agree that i should not have called - now the scammers have my number.  not a huge monetary risk, but i am subjecting myself to hordes of calls.  i reported the charge to my bank and will get it removed after a lot of my time i'm sure.  if i have to cancel my credit card over this i will be ticked.  i NEVER use this card - only for two automatic charges each month, so i have no idea how i was compromised.

i will say this - calling makes no sense whatsoever if you have the charge.  go straight to the bank.  what are you going to tell the scammers if they answer?  you risk having to provide MORE compromising information.

    what's your name?
    what was the card number?
can you verify the address so that we can remove the charge?

i could see this going badly.  there's obviously something wrong here.

Got a fradulent charge on my bank statement. $9.15 to be exact. It was listed as some "Gamma" company with this number as contact information. I'm not sure how they got my information to begin with. I've changed card numbers, but I'm not sure what else I should do.

i called my bank re: unauthorized charge of 9.25 (GAMMA) and the very first thing they did was to cancel my card.  not canceling was not an option provided me.  it's no big deal b/c i have other cards, but make arrangements (if necessary) before you call your bank.

my card was a debit mastercard, and the charge showed as non pin debit transaction, but all of my monthly charges (that are actually mastercard charges) show as non pin debit.

i reviewed charges back to 7/2007 and have no idea what this charge might have stemmed from (even if i unintentionally opted-in as others mentioned).  my guess is that the card number was compromised online from a previous transaction (months ago as i have no online transactions in the last ten months) or stolen from one of my two monthly recurring charges (netflix and blockbuster).

it's a lot of trouble for >$10, but i did what was necessary.

please post your results if/when anyone finds out the origins of these charges.

I had the fraudulent charge show up on my statement from GAMMA for $9.15, and called to dispute with my bank (BoA).  They sent me thru to fraud dept.  Cancelled my ATM card, and immediately credited me the $9.15.  The day after the bank issued the credit, Gamma credited my $9.15 back.  I don't know if it was due to a call from BoA or if they just found the "mistake", but the bank didn't even want their $9.15 back! (I found that the most amazing bit about all this)... Now I anxiously await my new plastic :)

Got charged on my credit card for $9.15 with the description #Gamma on 6/11/08. Amegy Bank told me it was an online purchase from a Toy Hobby store in Dallas, Called the number listed on the transaction 1-888-869-2203 Got a strange sounding voice mail - left message and no reply to date. Cancelled my debit card and hope to be credited back the 9.15 soon. Nothing is safe out there!

Showed up on my bank statement as a debit/mastercard purchase for $9.15.  Went to the bank, canceled the card and awaiting a new one.  We are also getting strange phone calls at home.  If it were me and I caught the idiot who's doing this, they wouldn't be alive right now:)

Was doing my check book and noticed a charge that I didn't remember making. I'm really anal about keeping all my finances in order, so it really caught me off guard. It was listed as GAMMA 888-869-2203 TX  for the amount of $9.15.

    Really Ticked Off
I somehow missed it in looking at my acount and it was not until my bank mentioned that there was a questionable charge on my account in the amount of $ 9.25.  They stopped my debit card and are issuing me a new one. However, in order for me to file a complaint with my bank, I have to find this company and file a police report - where the charge originated from, not my local police department.  I guess I will have to file then with Dallas.
