- Digusted| 1 replyYou guys are ridiculous screening calls, thinking of ways to trick this company to leave you alone. Get a life if you owe something then pay it quit being dead beats come on half the reason the economy is like this is because of losers like you. Put a pair of pants on and be a grown up for once. I can't help but laugh and feel sick at the same time. Seriously people own up to your problems. And if you're going to voice yourself via web learn proper English first.

- ronda8/18 I recieved a call for this same company at 8:30pm eastern time. I spoke with a John Mason, he told me I was being suied for 1856.00 and if I didnt pay over the phone I would be summons to court and my total would be 3300.00. I was in a panic,I asked several times to speak with a supervisor, John Mason said no and that I was a waste of time. I ask for him to send me proof of my so called debit. He told he the only letter I will get will be a summons for court. I was crying so much, when I told him I havent reviced or herd of this debit, he called me a liar and a worhtless piece of [***]. Finally he gave me the address the mail had been going to, it was a address I have not lived at for 20yrs, He then accused me of falseifing bank papers. I am in so much shock. This John Mason was a complete JERK. I called the Attonreys General Office and filled a complaint. I will also fill a complaint to the state of California.
- Cheri| 1 replyI have gotten a call from another number also going by tr discovery and verification.

This was for my mother and not for me.
I need to know how to file a complaint. - Mom in GA| 1 replyYeah I just got one of those calls, and I started to go off on the first guy that called cause he was acting like he couldn't answer my questions as to who he was and what was the purpose of his call, even when I asked him what the "lawsuit" was about. He gave the the 888 number (888-492-3728) with a reference number, so I called and someone answered the phone saying "hello". After giving him the reference number given to me he comes back to the phone wanting to settle some CC account that he claims I had back in 2007....WTF???!!! Then he goes on to say they're gonna pull from my resources that they bellieve I have available, such as a job, bank account, vehicle, etc....Like I told him, I don't even have any of those resources available to give anyway, so then he puts me on hold for like 5 minutes, then comes back to ask if there's anything else, I said no, and we both hung up.....who are these people??!!!

- Mom in GA replies to Mom in GAJust called back and got some chick named Liz, who claims she didn't know what I was talking about, especially once I told her I contacted my lawyer, and when I asked to speak to her supervisor, she said she was the legal administrator and anything I had to say needed to be directed to her. So then I let her know that my lawyer will be contacting them, and that SHE had been served, and hung up!
- Jack| 1 replyThese individuals are trash...basically feeding you fear and will call everyone that you've used as a reference for in the past or they will lookup your family names and get their contact info also.
The calls always start with a message from some made up [***] name from a private number stating there is a legal matter pending against you and to call some number right away plus a case number. For me it was, 888-492-3728.
Here's the real sorry, they look up your credit report (Found they are they called HRNE under your credit inquiries). Once they see some information about past due account they use your contact information they've gathered and try to scare you. Feel free to file a suit against these people as they are violating every FCA rule basically and you can get up to $1,000 per incident of harrassment if handled properly.
I did call the number back and demanded proper identity before I told them anything about myself. They couldn't even tell me what "TR" meant in their company name. Then I asked them if they were really PMG and the guy basically told me he didn't have time for this and had another call and hung up on me.
Here are some contact information I wasn able to obtain:

- irriated harrassee replies to frank freemanSomeone called my work today, and stated to the woman who answered that they wanted to know the companies policies about "serving" and gave the woman my full name without even asking for a supervisor. Then when passed to the appropriate department, Administration instructed him to serve me at home, not at work. Then he volunteered to speak to me directly, he stated he was trying to serve me a court subpoena and if he couldn't serve to my office I would have to call the company initiating the "serve." I called and it was TR discovery and verification. He offered me a settlement of 1800.00 or else I will be served tomorrow. I told him "I don't have 1800.00 just laying around" and asked for a payment arrangement. He stated they don't deal in payment arrangements, then he stated that he didn't think I understood the seriousness. That's when he mentioned the 35% garnish, bank levy, and property liquidation. I said I thought it was up to the court to decide about garnishments and I thought the IRS/gov. were the only ones who could levy and liquidate. He became hostile and told me "this isn't peoples court, this is real life" and a bunch of other rude stuff. then he said THERE WILL BE NO COURT HEARING, THIS IS A DEFAULT JUDGEMENT, AND THE COURT WILL HAVE ZERO INVOLVEMENT/SAY SO. I tried to tell him I have an attorney that I'll need to consult, he got more rude and eventually hung up.
Here's what my Attorney's office said: "They can get a default judgement, but the default MUST BE SERVED IN PERSON, and you only have 30 DAYS TO RESPOND." I'm not sure what all of my options are, but I'm probably going to file bankruptcy, I'm sure I can get a reasonable payment plan if I insist on going to court, (which will probably be an option I have when I respond) but I really don't want to end up owing MORE MONEY. Why can't these people understand that not everyone's got 1800.00 lying around?
It was irritating that the man insulted me with his whole People's Court thing, also that he had the nerve to tell me I have no legal right to a trial, that is definately B.S. Also, there's no way the Credit Card company is suing me, that debt was charged off. What I failed to mention to my attorney, is that this is not the original creditor, it's a collection agency.
out of all the posts on here, only one person confirmed he was actually served, I wonder what the amount of the debt is. - Anonymous replies to frank freemanJust curious, how much was the debt for? Did the court force a 35% wage garnishment? What about the bank levy and liquidation? When they talked to me they tried to convince me I had no legal rights to go to court and let a judge make a decision. My Attorney says otherwise.
- 63 replies to LucyMy attorney says that when you get served, they don't need a signature, they just need to phsyically hand it to you. THEN YOU HAVE 30 DAYS TO RESPOND. If you are who you say you are, respond by going to court, the judge will base your repayment on your income, if you can prove financial hardship. COLLECTION AGENCIES DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO JUST TAKE ANY DAMN THING THEY WANT. They have to have a Judge order it, it's called a COURT ORDER. If debt collectors could do that, there wouldn't be so many credit charge offs, etc, etc, etc...there's this whole process involved.
- Lucy replies to Resident47I actually owe quite a considerable amount of debt. Don't want to get into a ton of details but my particular debt wasn't myself alone but only in my name, if that makes sense.
I make good money and can support myself and my kids, but if they garnish me, I will in serious trouble, because as most single Mom's every penny counts.
The thing is, I do owe the debt. I don't remember how much I owed. I don't have any paper work on it. I contacted the original creditor, they gave me balance but said they no longer own the debt.
This debt shows on my credit report, and although the amount is different from what they told me, it's still high enough to screw with my life.
How does an opponent even win a judgment? A coworker told me, she was hit with a bank levy without her knowledge- and it was for a credit card. They took 6k from her. So I KNOW this is real. I could care less about their "tactics". I have children and a home to worry about. I don't have money to pay my debt AND hire an attorney. I can only do one. I've spoken w this office several times. They're not the nicest people, but the debt is real. I guess my main concern is that even if I find a loophole here, eventually I won't. - chrystal| 1 replyI recieved a call yesterday from these people 1-888-492-3728. They were trying to collect money from a credit card that i had 8 years ago. The balance on the card was 500 dollars and they claimed that i owed $3,300. Supposidly the account has been closed for 8 years but the card still accrued interest over the years. threatened to take my cars, garnish my wages up to 35% and take me to court. was supposed to be served with papers. Where are these papers.

Contact FTC. - kgmgkelly| 1 replycalled my office and asked what my companys policy was for having someone served at my job. i asked who they wanted to serve and he gave my name. i told them that i was who he was looking for and what was this about. he said he could not tell me because he was from the processors office but gave me a 1800 number to call along with a case number which i did. the man that answered the phone simply answered "hello" when i asked who i was speaking with he hesitated and said his name was john. i told him about the previous call and wanted to know what this was about. he stated that i was being served and when i asked what this was about he stated is was from a credit card in 2007 and i was being sued for $3600.00 which is odd cuz the card only had a $300.00 limit and has been closed. I told him that I would consult my attorney at which point he told me then he wasnt going to speak with me and got an attitude, "john" stated that they will seize my car ( which is not in my name ) , seize my house ( I rent not own ), seize my bank account ( dont have one ) and he can garnish my wages 35%. told him that he could not do that. he said he would settle for an immediate payment of $1700.00. told him that wasnt happening because i am not sure that this is even a valid debt. he asked if i got the letter they sent me and i said i had not , he sarcastically said " oh so now you didnt get the mail " i told him no i have not , he then says " anyways "he said well then you are being served. i asked when this was happening , he told me that i would be served at my home between 8-12p the very next day . i then asked him since when are people told where and when they are being served, he then hung up on me. That was last week..................papers???? i have talked to several people about this company and it seems like a scam of some sort.

- DawnThey called my parents house using the name Officer Johnson a legal matter call their firm. My parents were freaking out thinking it was something criminal. I called the number after hours and got TR discovery v/m which I then googled. I am calling them tomorrow as well as the attorney generals office for falsely impersonating an officer. Also, I haven't lived with my parents in 14 years so they really dig through your info.

- . replies to DigustedFake "debt collection" scams use shills to try to create the perception that they are legal and legitimate. They either pretend they "settled", they whine about being "garnished", or they just attack the people reporting on their illegal activities to try to discredit them.
The appearance of shills on complaints against debt collectors making threats is an indicator of a fraudulent fake "debt" extortion racket.

A quick 5 minutes will help shut these scammers down! - YepWell these guys ruined my day.
I'm not sure if this is a legitimate company that shouldn't be in business or a 100% scam. They first contacted my family and then I contacted them. After being yelled and spoken to in a threatening manner I called the Attorney Generals office to complain. They said they think its a scam and have had multiple complaints. I asked if I could file a complaint with the company. The attorney general's office said in order to do so I'd need an address to send a written complaint to. She said in most cases they will avoid giving you an address, which is precisely what happened when I called. I remained calm when calling but the man I spoke with continued to yell at me, refused to give me an address and then hung up on me. I called back and spoke to a woman who did give me an address out of Orange County California. I then looked up the address and its a UPS store. Before I mentioned anything about filing a complaint or researching their company the woman I spoke with said they are not a debt collector but more of a liaison between me and their client and that Fair Debt Practices do not apply to them. I'm not sure what would make them above the law but I have a feeling the FBI should be informed.
I hope these people are caught and prosecuted. This isn't right. If there is lawsuit against them I would like to be involved.
Good luck everyone and thanks for the advice.- Caller: TRDV
- Jon Singletoni had the exact problem. they told me i would be served with papers at work and that they were litigators. after contacting the FTC i learned that it is a scam. they will find info on you by running a credit check and looking for late or outstanding debts, they also will get personal info if you apply for a loan online. they do not have website and i could not find any information on them other than complaints. when i called them back i asked for a physical address so i could make a payment they hung up. even when i offered money they would not give me a physical address. the only address i could find that was ever related to this company was that of a UPS store.
according to the FTC here is where they went wrong
they would not reveal what there business was, an attorney or collection agency must identify themselves
they threatened legal action and portrayed themselves as litigators
they would did not send proof of debt upon request
no physical address
no website
do not give them any info and do not offer to make a payment- Caller: TR Discovery and Verification
