- DragonHe says his name is Jacques Clermont and the extension is 234. Of course he does not answer, you must leave your name and telephone number on the voice mail. Why does he want my telephone number when he just called me.???

- botheredI am receiving these calls since I got this new phone number...over a month ago. I don't understand the name mentioned in the message but it s not me or my spouse. I am very annoyed, I am calling CIBC to see if they can remove my number from their list since the message says it's from 'CCA CIBC'. I called the number but the message on the voicemail wasn't professional so I didn't want to go further.

I received 3 calls from cca-cibc 1 888 886 1924. They left a message telling me it was urgent and i should call back as soon as possible. But the name they asked for was not mine. So i didn't call back. Besides, it doesn't sound legit.- Caller: CCA CIBC
- Anonymous| 1 replyI received a few calls from this number and eventually a woman left a message, she addressed me by my full name and gave me her extension (120 I believe) to call her back. I called back and it was actually legit, I had gone through some rough times and lost my job so I was hurting financially. My automatic monthly payment had bounced and pretty much all at the same time I lost my job, I moved to a different address and got a new phone number. So the financial institution that I owed money to got a bunch of "return to sender" correspondence from my previous address and were unable to contact me by phone. They eventually (after about 6 months) sold my debt to Common Collections Agency and they were able to find me with my new phone number.
1-888-886-1924 (Toll free number). It's a collection agency called "Common Collections Agency". They purchase passed due debt accounts from credit companies (i.e.: Department stores, automotive loans from financial institutions, credit cards, etc...) and attempt to collect from you. Their Ontario Canada office is located in Toronto and their Quebec Canada office is located in Gatineau under the name "Agence de Recouvrement Commun". Their website is http://www.commoncollections.com .
Make no mistake - they probably purchased your debt for a fraction of what it was worth in an attempt to get most of it back from you. This is how they make money. The financial institution sells your debt for, example, 25% of it's total amount. The debt collection agency then attempts to get the entire amount from you. However in some cases they will offer a bargain, usually knocking off a considerable amount on the owed debt in order to pay off and close the account. This covers their "investment" in your debt and pays for their company to exist.
They can be rude and obnoxious on the phone, like all collections agencies. They are running after people who either can not, do not want to pay or have forgotten about their debt. They've gambled in purchasing your debt in hopes of you paying it back in full as soon as possible. This is why they call and call and leave messages non-stop.
I've had many debts in my adult life, I've had to deal with collections agencies in the past, it's never fun. When I see an "unknown" or "1-800" type number on the call display I always wonder "oh crap what did I forget to pay?". In my case this was legitimate and entirely my fault - not something I am proud of but lying about it won't make it go away either.
To those who have received calls and think this is by mistake: If you are a bit paranoid or worried, block your phone number and then call them up. Ask them flat out what it is that they have on you. You never know it could be someone else with the same name or an old cell phone that you stopped using a year or two ago and forgot to pay off the outstanding balance, old car loan that you did not clear up before changing vehicles, etc.... There's a 50% chance that the call is legitimate and that it's relevant to your credit profile.
Hope some of this helps.- Caller: Common Collections Agency

- Niousmac| 1 replyJust ignore their calls and let them fill your voicemail, then delete those annoying messages. Do not engage in any conversation with them UNLESS you plan on paying! Keep in mind that they can only get to you by talking to you on the phone. If they can't, they will eventually give up. I speak from experience. Just be aware that they may still attempt to collect from you even after your debt has been purged from the Equifax and TransUnion systems (usually after 6 to 7 years after the last activity date of your account and dependend on the province you live in). If such cases they will bank on the fact that you are not aware of this and tell you that you still owe the money... Technically it may be the case but from the credit bureau's perspective, you start over on a clean slate as if nothing had ever happened. Make sure you know when the R9 mention(s) will be purged from your credit report. Again, Equifax and TransUnion will be able to let you know if you drop them a call. Got luck and block those calls!

- ThunderTrapMy cousin was the victim of crime, suffers from depression and PTSD and is awaiting legal settlements that make years to come in. These vultures hope that he commits suicide in the interim. They are despicable persons, and I pray that each and every one of them is stricken with cancer and dies a slow painful death.
