Have voice mail from "Amanda Clark/Clerk" at 1-888-590-2265 ex 266 from CRG Legal Group say that they are taking legal action agains our drivers license and SS#. And the person they are looking for is no one we know and we have had this phone for years.

This just happened to us yesterday with that new number.  I was extremely curious about all this by what was said.  He told me that my husband was going to be picked up on a felony warrant etc. and he was to call this Mr. Rice back.  He did when he got home, there was no threats made to my husband about a warrant just that he was going to be served, and they were going to take his license etc. This whole thing gave me a panic attack and I had a hard time picking my husband up from work.  This 'debt' in question was well over 10 years ago and as far as my husband can recall it was taken care of.  They had a case number without going to court, he was never served papers and was NEVER taken to court on this.  They said if he paid it off in a two month period everything would be fine.  So my husband took it a step further, asked if he could 'pay' it when we got our taxes back (in two more months) he said absolutely not it had to paid now. At this time we knew something was 'up' with this whole thing as stated before he doesn't 'owe' this in the first place.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Now I guess we sit and wait to see if we'll be 'served'.

I got a voice mail today from this number. 1-888-907-3631. It was for a Nicole Neighbors, apparently. And the message said due to her inaction and their recent failures to contact her, they had no choice but to make final decisions for her. "If you do not want unwanted or adverse action taken against you, contact us at 1-888-907-3631 ext. 1". I called them back and it was a recording saying I had reached the office of Cornerstone Resolution Group, Inc. I hit ext 1 and it brought me to a man that just said 'hello..?' I said I had received a call from that number saying that a Nicole Neighbors (is what it sounded like) owed money or something and it wasn't me. He asked if I knew her or where they could find her, I said no I don't know anyone by that name - which I don't. And my first name is nowhere near Nicole. I'm not sure who these people are but they don't seem to be very legitimate.

You wouldnt be on this site, if you didnt try to find out who was calling you too.  pay your bills too!

Kim,  he is more than likely the bill collector himself.  They come to this board often to see how the reactions and conversations is going in reference to their calling people.  Then they will either post an insult such as "Pay your bills"  or will shill/Boost their claims by making favorable comments about themselves,  pretending to be someone else.   They use this board as a Barometer to measure effectiveness and how to change tactics when necessary.  Sort of a bump and run offense.  Your post is also true and accurate and thank you for posting.

Also,  we do have board  "TROLLS"  who like to read these posts and make childish comments hoping to stir the pot.  Simple things entertain simple minds.

I first received a call from cornerstone resolution group in December of last year staying that i owed for a payday loan in 2008. They also said they were serving me and taking me to court for this company. I set up a payment arrangement with them for my next paycheck because it was a few days before xmas and i needed to pay rent with my coming check. They took the money out my account 2 Weeks before the date we agreed on. When I contacted them they said they made a mistake but couldn't refund me and they would send me a letter to take to my apartment manager staying that it was their mistake and I could ask fire more time to pay my rent. They never sent anything and now today someone from check and credit reporting called again on my cell phone saying they was serving me today.when I called the #back they was asking me to pay them for the same account I paid them in January but now  its $560 more because of legal fees. This is a scam and a lot of people reporyed them to the bbb.

Close that bank account.

I been getting the same call I stay in Georgia.  I ignore them because if you hace to keep calling me and telling me you're gonna do then you not doing it. Everybody has had debt problems in the past but to call everyday and leave numerous messages is ridiculous.  I block the calls.

I agree pay your Bills but do not call and threaten people with lies of check fraud and all that BS when each circumstance is different when Its been 6 years and have heard nothing about this debt thats crazy

Calling me threatening me about a 6 year old debt that i knew nothing about assumed ir was taken card of especially since the Loan place was right next Store to me at work and this comapny said they would serve me with theft by check if i Did not pay $ 700.00 on a $ 350.00 debt would not give me any info What so ever about this just pay it or else

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

A Frederick Murphy called me (on my cell phone) and said he was calling for Christopher Robert Garrett's Office and said they were investing a fraud claim on my sister and they had me as a possible contact.  I looked up Christopher Robert Garrett and it shows him to be a Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo.  The number he left for my sis to call 1-877-618-3036 answers as Cornerstone Resolution Group, Inc.  The recording sounds just like the Frederick Murphy that called me.  (His extension is 268.)  As soon as I called his call back number from work, I immediately received a call back and they did not say a word and hung up.  The phone number was also not shown.    I realize I didnt receive call from 888-907-0125 but then maybe I did because it did not show on id but call back number was different.)

Got a call from this group also calling themselves crg or cornerstone resolution. Said I have a payday loan from 2009 that I am just now hearing about and they now my address which I haven't had that address for 5-6 yrs but they say it is still open a po box in my name. Said it will.go to court and refused to send me something in the mail or give me their address. Said it was my responsibility to prove I didn't owe it not theirs to prove I do or that they r not scamming me. Hung up on them.

just ask for mike gibson he's the supervisor under richard and peggy cerrone who have a lot of lawsuits against them with over $85,000 in damages and the people are there are real thug,,,,,surprised mike gibson or any of the employees didn't say to western union or money gram funds as he is very hard up for money these days.......don't pay these guys they will take your money and run.....record them when they call you.....ask for letter and wait for another threatening call from them and then sue them for each count of the FDCPA they break!!!!!

I  have been receiving call for about a year like these.  They are all different and from different places.  Cornerstone was one.  All of the calls I have been getting is the same scenario as you all have described.
I know who they are representing and it is a loan company. I lost my job about 6 or 7 years ago.  I was able to pay a lot of my bills off but was not able to pay this particular loan company.  I offered to pay a smaller amount until I found a job and they would not accept it.  One time, they did take me to court.  I called them and tried to make arrangements and their rep said that I qualified for a hardship something or other.  She sent a letter to the courts (a copy came to me also) saying that the account had been resolved and the court date was cancelled.
About a year later, these weird calls started.  They have also told me that one of their carriers would be at my house and I needed to be there to accept a summons. I stayed home from work and no one showed up. After that I received a couple more and between my husband and myself decided that they were lies.  We caught them in several lies.
I got one today from Cornerstone.  The number is 877-618-3036.  I will not call them or answer them. I don't trust them and if they want me to pay them smaller amounts, I can do that, but I will only deal with the loan company.  I won't deal with these people that lie and scheme.
This is really bad, but I thought after so many years, the bad debt dropped off....not sure what I am trying to say....
I feel really bad about the debt, but I did try to pay them with a smaller payment and they made fun of me for even asking for such a low payment.  I have found work now, but it is about 30,000.00 less than I was making when I made the debt.
