Technical support scammers from India.  Do not give them your credit card number!!!

Pop up on computer says to call number for system security support immediately due to a potential security glitch

I had a blue screen pop-up on my MacBook. The blue screen indicated there was an error and directed me to call 888-926-6279. A male with an Indian accent answered "Computer Helpdesk" and he provided instructions for me to allow him to remotely access my computer. I told him that I would call him back after I researched whether he was affiliated with Apple. He told me that he would just remain on hold - which made it difficult to call Apple without another phone. Since I was skeptical, I told him that I would take my computer to an Apple store. He then advised me that, given the area code I was calling from, that the closest Apple store was 40 miles away and would charge me $69.95. He offered to send a technician to my house the next day for $49.95 (that I would have to pay by credit card over the phone). I ended the conversation and called Apple. A blue screen popped up in my computer...saying to call your Apple provider for a virus issue....I called the number and were very pleased..they answered with an Apple greeting..I was convinced and have them access to my computer. They pointed out the problems,  in detail. They also told me that I could take my computer to an Apple store or do it online with them. He even provided me with an Apple ID number. I put him on hold and tried calling Apple...I could get in touch with Apple. I panicked and told him that I would call him back. I'm now changing all my accounts and credit card numbers. I want to be safe. I learned my lesson. By the way, I did get in touch with Apple and they looked at my computer and found none of the problems that were told to me that I had. Wow!

Total scam - although the "blue screen" on a Mac is hilarious.
