    No, it's not legit. But whatever you do, calling that number should NOT be on the list! They'll rip ypu off and possibly install malware on your computer.

    It's probably just a JavaScript dialog launched by an ad on a web page you visited. Just close it and download some good anti-malware software to scan your computer and be sure. These guys have a good reputation: https://www.malwarebytes.org/

    Thank-you for the info. I ran a quick scan first. then rebooted and ran a full scan with Microsoft security essentials. Everything seems ok. One malware was quarantined so I removed it.

    i they pretend to be cox ... and give their number.  looked on the bill and the 888 number doesn't match.  reported to cox.
