It is Verizon and it takes a few seconds for the automated message to begin, just be patient. I recently updated a few things to my account using their verizon.com website. The phone call was to make sure that the changes were in fact made by the Verizon customer and not someone else. They then requested that I call 888-976-0259 if it was not me who made those changes. If it was me, then no further action is required. Thanks Verizon!

Yes, it was Verizon but the darn message kept repeating.  You'd think they could eventually fix their own automated machine!  So annoying...

    Not Sure
They told me I changed my email associated with my home phone, and I never did. I called them and they said "Don't worry about it". What a crock!

I made a change to my Verizon secondary email account the day before.  My wife didn't get the particulars, but this was the number to call back from.  Judging from the others' comments I don't think think it is spam/social engineering.

Left message that phone number to my account was changed. If not you, call.  I did and was asked to verify my number and name.  I was then asked what was my favorite food.  What? He then went on to say ... uhhh ... let me see why we called.  I immediately got suspicious and said that's okay and hung up.  I then called Verizon to verify and was told this was not one of their numbers.  I'm confused because I, too, made changes a couple days prior on my account.

I received a automated call from , stating that it was in regards to my recently changing my phone number.  I had not made any changes so I called the number 888-976-0259.  They identified thereself  as Verizon and wanted me to answer a security question.  Not knowing if this call was legitimate, I refused.  They then asked me for my home phone number and said they would call me back to verify my idenity.  They never called back so I feel this was some kind of a scam

Got voice mail from this number which said that I had requested to add or change my "mobile telephone " number.
First of all, I DONOT have a mobile phone with Verizon.I do have my land phone and DSL with Verizon and have not changed it in over 10 years!. This is definitel a SCAM. It is not a legitimate Verizon call. I did not answer but they left voice mail message.

Like others I received a call with a recorded message stating that there had been a change to my mobile telephone number on my account. If I didn't make this change I should call the number. I looked at my information in my Verizon.com account and verified everything was as it should be. While logged in to my Verizon.com account I did make an update by   updating my security questions & answers. within a minute after making the change I got this email to my primary email address:

Since the contact number in the email is the same as the contact number in the recorded message I received, I believe this is a legitimate phone number for Verizon.  The only problem is that I didn't make any changes to my account before they called me telling me I did.  Maybe that have glitches in their system?

Someone needs to find out who owns this number as it is a scam.  They will take your credit card number or anything that has a logo and skim it.

Matt at Verizon is an awesome technical support person. Don't be angry with him. He was the only person who was able to fix an issue I was having logging into my account. AND he called the next day to be sure all was well.  He is actually pretty terrific.

Verizon recording about account updates I preformed online. If it's true do nothing, if false call Verizon immediately.
In my case I did update my info online. I might have answered if caller ID had said Verizon.
