888-977-2018

I received a call asking for my grandson, the call was from a cell number from a city 30 miles from here. He said to have my grandson call back at 1-855-977-2018 and said he had a package for him to call back before Friday. He was going to deliver it between 1 and 5 on Friday and gave me an number to refer to when he called. Of course no one has called the 855 number back. Any ideas?

Possible debt collector.  First someone calls and says they have a package to deliver to you,   and then you're to call back another number where they attempt to extract money from you.  The first party just tries to verify personal information.   Once they have that, the second party knows more about the person owing the money,  and is more sure he or she has the right person.   Basically a debt collection scam.
