When he started out by telling me that my computer would be shut down within forty-eight hours I hung up on the male voice with the Indian accent.  I then went to my phone contact list and to the name IGNORE.  I added the number to that list.

Received several calls from this number from Indian male telling me he's from Microsoft Windows and my computer would be shut down for the next 24 hours.  I hung up.

Oh, the Indian "Microsoft Technical Support" joker has a new game ... I used to get a lot of calls from them.  Now I have had two calls in 2 days from 001 888 979 2362 - both of which hung up as soon as I answered.  This is to a UK phone line, by the way.

Good news for me ... my Panasonic phone set has Caller ID, and that enables me to block that US number so the phone doesn't ring when he calls.  At least, I hope it does!
That may be useful to some people.  I didn't know I had the facility until I read the phone Instruction Book :)
