I also have BC/BS.  I'm glad that I have not paid any money yet to them.
I haven't seen a bill from my physician, yet.
I had better not pay until I look at my bill.  Reading all of your emails has been
eye-opening.  It very well could have been paid by BC/BS, and yet, these dear ones
are continuing to call.

Received a call at 6:45, 11/07/201 (supper time) from an Edward Sloan rep. about a bill that Medicare had payed.  The nunber my machine recorded was 903-342-3802.

LOOKS like "2424" works for "Edward Sloan & Associates" what about it "2424" or should we call you "Eddy"

Calls on my cell phone and I have never given them my cell number.

Actually.....medical bills CAN show up on your credit record if you don't pay them.

Yes medical bills do show up on your credit score if they ever go to collections like edward sloan and associates. And actually what they do is they report the same bill multiple times to the credit bureau so that it looks like you have multiple bills not paid when in reality it is one that was paid by insurance. So, in repsponse to medical bills do not show up on your credit report, you have been misinformed, they can actually ruin your credit report.

I have been getting these calls over 10 yrs and they have been from edward sloanm now the caller ID that is a recording from edward sloan says Winnsborro ISD,, if u call the number that shows on caller id, no one answer.  Why are they using a school as caller id.  Sounds strange.

I am disabled.  A hard thing to get up and answer. Call after call. I would go to the doctor I need to see,  but I can't handle the process they deemed appropriate. .. Can't give them all the money. End of story. .

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

You can also send a certified signature required, receipt requested letter to them that tells them to "cease and desist all communication per the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act". It must have that phrase in it. Make sure your account number and all that information on it so their can be no excuse for them not to comply. They may contact you only once more after they have received the letter to let you know what their intentions are. If they contact you past that one time after you have received notification that they got the letter, then they have opened themselves up to lawsuits and fines.
