Citibank has called and left a message with my wife asking to call them. I dialed the number on the back of my card and they confirmed that they made this call. There was some problem with my last payment and that's why they called. It's a legitimate call.

It appears legit - I was contacted from this number about possible unauthorized charges on my card.  Doing the same as the previous commenter, I called the number on the card and they verified the information.

My parents received a phone call from 1-904-954-1091 (the message was left on their answering machine) at my old address asking that I call 1-866-517-5347 in regards to possible fraudulent activity on my CitiBank Platinum Select credit card. I thought that the number was suspicious, because CitiBank uses 1-800 numbers only as far as I knew.

I used the Google search engine to type in "1-866-517-5347" and found this form. I decided to call the number so I could report them. Upon dialing the number, a man picked up on the first ring and said "This is **** (unable to hear the name) with CitiBank, what is your account number?" There was no recording that said the call may be monitored for quality assurance or anything.

I also relayed this story to the CitiBank company, which they had given me a number to call the day prior. I verified with them that my account balance was $0 and that there had been no such fraudulent activity on my card.

The message I got was that this is "CitiBusiness Fraud Early Warning" calling to confirm recent frequent activity on my CitiBusiness MasterCard.  They provided an 800 number for me to call back: 800-750-7453.

This could be legit, but still.  NEVER call back a number left as a message.  I'm surprised they left a call back number.  I will call the MasterCard number printed on my card instead.  Never volunteer secret information to anyone who calls you.  They should be able to tell YOU.

I got a call from them too asking that I call an 800 number.  However, my caller ID showed the 904-954-1091 number.  I called my credit card company and there was no "suspicious activity".  I got to this website and noticed that some of these comments say that it was legitimate and from CitiBank.  Since I do not have an account with CitiBank, I am wondering if these responses are legitimate or are also part of a scam.  Either way, only call your credit card company or bank directly.

UPDATE - Turned out that the call was legit - it was my wife's credit card that they were checking since she had made a number of large holiday food purchases.  Still, she called the credit card company directly and that is what I would recommend.

I also received a message from this number. They wanted me to callback a toll free number in regards to fraudulant activity on my acct. Instead, I called the number on the back of my card and THEY SAID THEY DID NOT CALL ME and THERE WAS NO FRAUD ALERT ON THE ACCOUNT.  Beware, always call the number on your card and not from some random message.

Got a call from this number but nobody spoke, googled it, and found this page.  Interesting, because I tried to use my Citi card last night and was declined.  Didn't think too much of it until receiving this call. So I went to my account online, and saw a red flag on summary page, and gave an 800 number to call.  Called THAT number and asked about the 904 number, and the rep said that that was indeed the Fraud Center. Turned out that my account was flagged automatically by the system for a $4 coffee charge! Took less than two minutes to set everything right.

I got a call a bit ago.  We haven't used this card for big purchases in a long time and we made one.  They asked for my card number and then to verify my account the three digit security code.  No one EVER asks for that unless it is a charge you initiate.  The person spoke with a foreign dialect that I couldn't really understand.  They even asked for my mother's maiden name.  I told them I was not comfortable with giving my number to someone calling from a 904 number.  Why weren't they calling from an 866 or 800 number?  Then immediately after that, Citi called me from an 866 number and had way more information already without me providing it.  I am assuming someone has an insider there that is telling these scammers that "Hey there's some fradulent activity being reported.  Call now to get the before Citi does".  Nice.  I can't say that this particular 904 number isn't for real, but those of you who posted and said it is legit, I have to question if you work for someone who has this phone number just trying to make it look good!

Hello.  Just got a call from 904-954-7500 and 904-954-1091 - I did not answer so they left a message.  It was Citibank calling to request that I call them due to some fraudulent activity on my account.  They told me to call 1-866-517-5347.

This is legitimate!!!  I called the number very concerned and they said that they needed to verify my address (I had just moved) as they had received a phone call from another party trying to change my address.  I had just talked to my mom an hour earlier today and she had called Citibank trying to change my address for me, however they would not let her.  This call was legitimate, I had no problem giving them my updated information.

904-954-1091 left a message on my phone, asking me to call 800-650-8056.  The female voice in the message was not professional, or clear in pronouncing the numbers at all.  the 800 number then answers and asks me to call another number for $4.95 ...blah blah blah.....
This is a scam, don't waste your time and never give any information at all, ever, to this group.

I was contacted by Fraud Unit because I initiated a call due to receiving a "Privacy Notice" in the mail from Citibank. The Privacy Notice allows you to choice to Limit Information Sharing & Marketing of your account information, however it does not give you a toll free phone number to call in the event you do not wish to mail them your choice to prohibit selling of your information, and I might add at if you mail the form back to Citibank it is done at your own expense as it is not postage prepaid.  When I contacted Citibank, I spoke with two gentlemen who made several inquiries of my personal information but at no time were they able to state emphatically if this form was legitimate. In fact, they would not offer me any information except to state they were sorry for my inconvenience but could not share any of my information with me until I give them my account information and passwords. By the time I got off the phone, needless to say I was abit agitated as I would not release all the requested information, I kept saying I wanted to speak to a supervisor, but they stated they could not transfer me to one until they knew for sure I was who I said I was, "talk about going around in circles". I decided to end the conversation, we were all civil with oneanother. Within ten minutes, someone from the Fraud Unit called me and wanted the same exact information the two gentlemen wanted, talk about exasperating. No one yet knows anything about the form, so I believe I will be sending a copy of it to the FCC. Possibly then Citibank will know what form I'm talking about as I will be mailing a copy of it to the FCC.  Everyone I spoke to today was courteous and apologetic but it still remains to be seen if someone is going to change this form and add a 800-NUMBER to it, as well as addition to the pre-paid postage since Citibank would be making money on selling your information.

After receiving a msg to call this number, I called the number on the back of my Citibank card. They confirmed that it WAS a Citibank number and my acct information may have been compromised in a merchant's database and advised me to close the acct. and have new cards reissued. They were unable to go through previous charges in depth.
It appears to be legitimate, but I'd still call the number on the back of your card if you get this msg...better to be safe than sorry.

This is legit everyone.  The number called on my cell phone.  It rang once and left no message.  Shortly after, the number 866-517-5348 called, it was a recording about the security of my card.  I checked my online account, and there was a message on there too reporting fraudulant activity.  I called that number and got the situation resolved.  Good luck to everyone.

I too have been receiving calls from 816-420-4003 stating they are from citibank concerning being late on my card. They had my name and my wife's and my phone number, they had an incorrect address and middle initial. I told them I do not have a citicard in my name address is wrong to get it corrected and quit calling, they didn't. 5 calls in the last 3 days after I told them to quit. I called back the # on the message, 866-444-4986. Someone answered right away and and asked for my card #. I again told them I do not have one but my wife does, he asked for that number and could not even confirm the last 4. I explained and he said fraud control would call me back. They called back from 904-954-1091, a lady with foreign accent said someone was trying to access my information with incorrect security answer. I explained it to her and she was transferring me to a supervisor as we were saying our hellos, we cut disconnected.
So I called the # on the billing statement, got to the fraud dept. She was very helpful. IT IS A SCAM!!!!! She checked all the numbers I had and said NONE of them match any in their system. DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO ANYONE CALLING YOU! ALWAYS CALL BACK TH NUMBER ON YOUR STATEMENT!

    To Whom this may concern...

These are professional con artists.  They call from 1-904-954-1091 the number in which you have looked up and 1-866-623-9354.  There are other numbers they call from as well.

These are people who are fishing for your account information.  They want your name, address, SSN, card number and three digit security number.  They know that a lot of people will believe most individuals who call and say their from the fraud alert center and just give away their information like candy.  File a report with citi group then the police then you can also file a report with the FBI; they have a task force that is in the process of investigating these individuals.  They will fined, jailed and serve a minimum of 5-10 years in a federal corrections facility.  BE AWARE THESE ARE SCAM ARTISTS.  THEY DO THIS FOR A LIVING BE VERY CAREFUL WHO YOU HAND OUT INFORMATION TO!

This is a credit card calling to find out why you have not paid on time. It is an example of the TARP money hard at work. We have bailed out the credit card companies so that they can call us to ask for more money. Welcome to the USA.
