I just got a call. Since I did not recognize the phone number I did not answer, and they did not leave a message, on my answering machine. So, I didn't pick up.  It is odd that when people do answer the phone, the caller just hangs up. ??? So, why do they call?  Are they just trying to validate your phone number?  Are they making money by the number of outbound calls they make, and then tell their employer, there were no answered phones, even if there were answered phones?  Thank goodness most of these scam calls are long distance, which gives a different kind of ring.  So 99.9% of these different ringing calls can be ignored.  Anybody worthwhile will leave some kind of message.

i keep getting the call at any odd time every day now its driving me nuts I don't answer at all but I have called back and left a message on there machine and told them to f*ck off and stop calling.... whats a good app to use to block the number?

I just got yet another call from this number but this time there was a message left.  When I checked it there was mostly dead air, but there was a faint chuckle every 10 secs or so and then they just hung up.  Super weird......

Claimed to be calling from Optima on behalf of President's Choice MasterCard attempting to sell Insurance.

Called my pay-as-you-go cell so did not answer. Called them back on landline, pressed #2 and put my name & number on the do not call list. Optima is the name given of this company.

Well I am sure that they are appreciative that you have not only confirmed that they called a good number and that someone will answer it, but that you have also now given them your landline number as well.

This number has been calling my cell phone daily for weeks now.  Finally answered and they hung up.  How frustrating!  I will be blocking this number.

In my case MC w Cdn Tire ... so cut up the card after 18+ years due to this harassment !!!

MC & Cdn Tire lose due to such ridiculous telemarketing, so hope they made enuf to cover losing loyal customers !!!

It is the responsibility of the phone service providers  (land line & cell) to resolve this BUTT they only care about the $$$ & these pesky telemarketers/scammers pay $ to the providers too !!!

A call blocker is only a tool.  You may find that your phone service provider offers some call blocking for no charge.  The DNC works pretty well but only for legit callers. The crooks just do as they please, low risk being caught and punished.

Called several times & never leaves messages

They confirmed that I had a Canadian tire mc then said they were selling more insurance for it life and accident, I said no thanks, they were argumentative. At the same time I had phishing scam issue on my new laptop, not sure if it was connected but my computer started screaming at me to call a number to get rid of malware/spyware before I did any online shopping. I read it was a scam. Not feeling very safe right now.
