Did not get a call but rather a letter in an envelope with no return address ... from "FIRSTFAMILY SECURITIES INC. 100 FIRST ST, MORRISON ONT H4N-3L4  TEL:  1-905-598-0615  July 28, 2009" .... notifying me that I was one of the "winners of the SHOPPERS SWEEPSTAKES held on May 5th, 2009 in the 2nd category"... and was "entitled to the sum of $250,000.00"  Check looked official, drawn on "HSBC 268 Canal St. New York City, NY  10013-3516  1-108/210".... for $4,980.00 ("to cover taxes on winnings") ... letter looked moderately unprofessional ... envelope was extremely unprofessional.  It would have been so nice in these difficult times to have truly won ... I guess I knew in my heart it was a scam, but I decided to call the # "just in case" ... it was a Friday evening and the line rang and rang then dropped the call ... Monday... the phone company had a recording stating the number was "no longer in service"... I was planning on "chatting" with "Mr. McGregor" and obtaining information, contacting law officials and assisting them however possible! ... There are too many people having extremely difficult times right now and they may not use their best judgement when it comes to deciding what to do with these "checks" ... "Mr. McGregor" and his conspirators have a lot to learn... it is only a matter of time before their "game" comes to an end ... I have a feeling their cellmates won't be terribly impressed by their schemes, but rather will likely consider them pathetic for preying on folks in troubled times.

Got same letter. Obviously a scam.

I recieved a winning notification letter & check in the mail from Mr. Lewis McGregor for over 5,000. I called him and he told me to deposit the check and call him back. We are definately in desperate time while these people try to take advantage of us.
