I received a check in the mail saying I won a sweepstakes and I took it to the bank the bank said it was good.  Then I called back this woman named Rachele told me the taxes would be 883 and to go to
Western Union and send it to this person named Thomas Davis in Oshawa Ontario Canada. I sent it and called her back she told me that I would get the rest of my winnings  Fedexed to my home between 10 and 2. I waited all that day nothing came that was a sat nothing Sun. Now its Monday and I can't reach anyone at the number that was on my paper. So I went online to see if there were any complaints.
That's when I figured out  I GOT SCREWED!

Torrent Inc. was the name of the company on the paper I got with the check. I have been trying to call back but all I get is either a ring or busy someone did answer once and put me on hold. They sure know how to get to people this time of year when the money would be the one thing people need for a great Christmas!

That's the samething that happen to me, I got the check and had to pay taxes, I think it was 860.00 to Thomas davis in canada. Was suppose to receive the rest of the money on Saturday between 7-730. Waited all day but nothing, this is so mess up around christmas time. Did anyone do anything about this? The lady I talked to was lexy, talking how bless I am. Using God to do wrong, not right at all!!!!!

THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee for a sweepstakes prize scam described here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/menus/consumer/phone/prizes.shtm which lists several flavors. This type of scam is also being used for fake loans and grants (you have to send them money before they send you a loan or grant). One clue is they want you to wire the money via Western Union (Moneygram, etc.) because wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, the money's untraceable, it's impossible to get the money back, and the scammers will vanish on you.
