I received an automated message about possible assistance from debt troubles.   They supposedly can help, but would be very wary of ever calling these people.   The message did leave a weblink below:

it was an automated call and they started with "are you having debt trouble?" i hung up...

Yeah, they just called me, I never pick up calls I don't recognize because I hate telemarketers, but since it went into my answering service I figrued it might be actually important. My mistake. Went to listen to it and it was about a 5 second span of silence then it hung up.

Waste of my time and theirs, way to go!

Automated message from 'debt-trouble' telemarketer

Called my cell phone.  Did not answer and googled the number to get to this page. Yesterday, I picked up the cell phone as it rang and heard this poor old woman telemarketing for the Toronto Star try to sell me a weekly subscription.

They called today but I didn't answer. They left a msg about debt reduction...

Automated message trying to sell credit debt assistance service.  You're to answer 3 questions and press your keypad to respond.  They repeatedly mentioned this is not a sales call, but a survey.

Didn't bother to respond, the system eventually hung up after leaving them on hold.

I got a long, messed up message from them while I was out today... The message re-started itself randomly and repeated several times for a message that lasted approximately 4 minutes... I tried almost every set of options to try to reacch any live person, but could not get anything but voicemail saying they were either busy or away from the phone and to use the member number if I was a member or to contact the member directly if I was a creditor calling about a member... Then I looked them up on Google (who supplied the same web address as the recorded message did)  and visited their website, which mentions a Media contact extension # 274 and got voicemail that way too... I work in a call center and just want to talk to the person operating their dialer to advise them that it is malfunctioning... Since I will be talking to them anyways, I will also be asking to be set up on their internal do not call list as required by CRTC laws...

FYI: As far as I am aware, Bell Canada cannot really do anything about these calls, so it is pointless to hassle someone there about it...

You can remove yourself from OCCA's calling list by calling (905) 455-8474 or Toll Free: 1-866-USE-OCCA ~ 1-866-873-6222.

The voice menu says to choose Option 7 to remove from the list, and then you have to speak your phone number after the tone.
