- Jana11Brutal tactic collection agency that goes after folks with past rental property lease break and fees, etc. IQ Data International. They hijack area codes and numbers just to appear local and may use several different NO#. They will call your employer and call back and back again. They follow none of the legal means of collection and won't provide documentation or proof of debt or that they own the debt. Want you to pony up a credit card no and just pay whatever they are asking. Just laugh and hang up. Know your rights. They will threaten you with legal action to collect. Phtuuubth! So what. You will get reported to the credit bureaus...blah, blah, blah...Who cares? Don't let these folks screw with you.

- Serenity| 1 replyIt was weird felt like they was rushing me to pay them money and wanting my card information they said tomorrow they will call again and if I don’t answer they won’t be calling no more and “helping “me I told them that I don’t work I’m pregnant and I’m not from anchorage I just moved here and it’s like if they don’t care they kept expecting me to pay on call with them and ignoring everything I say it seems like a scam collectors

- Kat* replies to SerenityThey probably WERE rushing you to pay because if they give you time to think, you might not fall for their scam. And of course they don't care since yes, they ARE scam collectors. If they call again, tell them to MAIL you proof of the debt along with proof they're legally entitled to collect said debt. Refusal for ANY reason confirms this is a scam. REAL debt collectors know phone calls, texts, faxes, and emails are not legal methods of debt validation.
- KevinReceived a call from them once, but did not pick up because it said “SPAM RISK” they called back the next day and this time I answered. They stated they were a third party debt collector trying to collect what I owed to a rental complex I moved out of months back. Wouldn’t tell me what the charges were for. I asked “if I owed them anything, why did I get my rental deposit back?” Couldn’t answer me and when I told him I wasn’t paying anything, especially over the phone, he said “I’m going to put you on brief hold, I’m being called into a meeting.” What a joke. Not gonna lie, it was fun messing with the guy. He seemed flustered.

- Kayla| 1 replyThey sent me a letter saying I owed. I responded with no I don’t and was about it hang and they started to harass me. Telling me to use my tax refund to pay them call them back when I got my tax refund or to take out a loan to pay them. Seemed awful suspicious. So when I simply said no I can’t pay I don’t get a tax refund they said they tank my credit and I said well that’s unfortunate. They then said o would care about paying if I ever wanted to rent again which is boarder like sue worthy. All in all if they put it on your credit report just go through the credit agency. These people are bullies.

- BigA replies to KaylaYou got a letter yet you didn't put the full information on this debt collector in your post, such as complete company name and address. Why not? What did the letter say? Did it explain your rights to you? Have you followed through on those rights? Oh, and "can't pay" is not an affirmative defense.
- JoeThis number called me about a past rental complex had some right and some wrong information about me which was a red flag. They demanded i paid them the 3k$ of debt that I owed the apartment( not true I keep all receipts and final out papers)I strongly recommended that what they needed to do was go [***] themselves and they told me that it's okay they would slap the debt onto my credit history. Sounds scary right? Don't be frightened if this happens to you. Simply ask them for company name, email address, phone number, company address and their names so you can get back with them. After hang up and look up the phone number that called you. Slap that into debt collection(input phone number)(input state or city) into safari and look at all agencies if that number isn't from one you can see on there safe bets are that phone number isn't linked to a legal and existing company. Next load up whatever credit score report site you use credit karma transunion/ equifax ect. Check if you have any debt/collection listed similar to what was called about. If there is nothing call the Federal Trade Commission as I did and open an investigation into the call and provide all information you received. After that call your credit report company you looked at earlier and asl to place a fraud alert on your account so nobody can open anything new in your name. I have called the FTC already and opened a criminal investigation against this phone number and the origin it comes from.

- CVery aggressive people, old rental debt 2k, they wanted prompt action. I said not possible, they gave 24 hours to pay them. Very poor tactics. Predators don't work with them.
