- Anne| 1 replyA "Mr. Mark Johnson" (with a heavy Indian accent) called claiming to be from the US Treasury, Dept. of Legal Affairs. He basically said I needed to call him back immediately otherwise I would be in some 'serious trouble'. If I didn't call him back, he advised that I retain a lawyer and have the lawyer call him back. Please! So ridiculous - especially with such an obvious accent and incorrect English.
- JamesCall from "Mark Johnson", thick accent. Claimed to be from the US Treasury. Hoax.
- Caller: RIALTO CA
- jazzjensen replies to AnneHeavy thick indian accent claiming to be Alan Clark. How great is that! It gets better, because of my legal troubles, I was supposed to hang up and call back Jack Wilson. I wonder if Jack would have had a heavy Indian Accent. Doesn't really sound like their real names does it. I could barely understand Alan Clark and had to have him repeat himself. Apparantly 3000 have fallen for this scam which is hard to believe.

- KatrinaMan with strong Indian accent called and said there is legal action being taken against me if I don't call 909-271-9702 within 45 minutes they will start the legal papers for this action but he wouldn't tell me what legal action was being taken??? I could tell it was a scam from the beginning
- Caller: Dept of treasury
- JasonDecided to take the call from the heavy accented Jordan Smith from the treasury department because I had time to kill. He asked for my lawyer's information, then told me a letter should have been sent to me already. I then had some fun even pointed out his accent didn't say "Jordan Smith". He "transferred" me to his supervisor Alan Clark. Both told me to call Jack Wilson. And both had very thick accents. In fact the "supervisor" was harder to understand. All in all, had a great time messing with scammers.
- Caller: "Treasury Department"
- dannysame Mark Johnson....Scam!!! haha
- Caller: Treasury Department
- MollyCaller said he was David Miller with the U.S. Treasury and said their was a legal action against us. Scared me too death, but I couldn't understand him so took to the internet to do some research. Stupid people!! Don't fall for it.
- Caller: U.S. Treasury Department
- Call type: Debt collector
- Leave a message at the scamFound a message on my answering machine and I honestly could understand about every fifth word. I caught "legal" and "treasury Dept" and I think the speaker had Indian or Asian accent, male voice. Interestingly enough at work today, a coworker mentioned he got a similar phone call just this week. Maybe they are calling San Diego first week of March? I deleted from my landline, but the call log appears on my TV system, so I thought I'd do the next person a favor "hang up!! Run away!!" Don't respond to people who contact you, and check your sources.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - MarkGot a call from Alex White. Super thick Indian accent, he talked a lot, but I could only hear Department of Treasury, legal affairs, legal action, and a return phone number. I called him back and he just hung up on me. I called him back and he said stop playing games the officers would come arrest me in 45 minutes. [***]!

I could hear the call center noise in the background. Thick accent, sounded like a woman. Very obvious it was a scam of some kind.- Caller: Anthony Davis
- Call type: Prank
- GaryGot a message from the (909) 271-9702 number. Heavy accented guy. Claimed he was from the US Treasury. Hard time understanding exactly what he wanted. Emphasized that if my wife didn't call him back, she better have good legal representation. Funny thing was, he didn't even get her name correct. lol
Someone should shut this guy down.- Caller: ?? Not the US Treasury
- LeeThis time it was a woman (couldn't understand her). Same scam, same phone number but I needed to speak to Anthony Davis.
I knew it was a scam so I asked her to hold on while I got a pen. When I came back to phone I said to her by the way I am having this call traced. She hung up on me. Ha! ha! Fun!- Caller: The scammer
- Laurie RossI don't appreciate the scare scam call.
They said legal action was being taken against me and I needed to call officer Danny Morrison at 909 271-9702 right away. I didn't call.
The initial call came from a woman with an Indian accent.- Caller: fake us treasury
- DBHeavily accented woman left a message claiming to be "Amy Taylor" from Dept. of Legal Affairs. She said that a notification of enforcement action was being started against my name. It was important to call back or have my retained lawyer call back threatening legal action against me if I didn't return the call.
- Caller: Dept of Legal Affairs
- LMAlso received a message this afternoon from an a lady with a very heavy indian accent. Same thing legal action blah blah - only small difference is she said she was caling fro the UN (not US) Treasury Department. There was a news episode about bogus calls claiming to be from the IRS etc trying to get people to pay "outstanding" bils. The police office wanted everyone to know that you will never receive a phone call telling you that you owe them money - they send you a notification in the mail. Please do not get scammed by this.
- Caller: U.N.(?) Treasury Department
- Private| 1 replyI appreciate these posts it made it very easy to confirm the scam.
