I received a call from this number today (my caller ID said this call was from Rialto, CA), and the caller - a woman with a VERY thick Middle Eastern accent whose name I could not understand - left a message stating that she was calling from the "Office of Legal Affairs" about "a legal action in your name."  She told me that the matter was "very important" and that because (I think she said) their line was recorded (it was SUPER hard to understand her!) that "you may want to have your attorney call me back."  Had this call come in from someone who didn't have such a heavy accent, I may have been more inclined to believe it was real - well, except for the fact, that I know that ANY legal action to which I would be a party would have provided me notification by mail, and I've received no such notification.  I don't owe any debts so no collectors would be calling me nor would any have sued me, and even if they had, again....I would have been notified by mail prior to getting this "very important" phone call from someone claiming to be from the Department of Legal Affairs.

I *did* call the number back (by first pressing *67 to block my information) and heard a voicemail greeting from what sounded like the same lady.  It only said that I had reached the Department of Legal Affairs for the U.S. Treasury and that all representatives were busy and I could leave a message.  So, of course, I did.  <eyeroll>  <sarcasm>

This number called me and said civil suit against me.  This company is in CA.  Would have nothing to do iwth CA since I don't live there.  Also in all honesty if someone was bring a civil suit against you, the notice would come in the mail.  This is someone who can't speak English and is making all these calls.  Someone needs to stop them.

I also got a voice message asking me to call 909-666-5745. Message was the same as described by both the other commenters.  

I got the message too. I called it back only because there was an issue with a man who damaged my car while attempting to break in. The officers arrested him and gave me a form to fill out for damages. There were a couple follow up letters and nothing more. In the back of my mind I thought it may pertain to that. When I got the recording I wondered if it were a scam. I then went online and found this post. Thanks for the info. I will cross that one off my list.

I got a call from this number  (1-909-666-5745) asking for one of my daughters, the man, with a obvious oriental accent told me that he was calling from the U. S. treasury department, I told him that the treasury dept did not make direct calls to wrong addresses, I told him that he was lying, he responded OK, I will make sure she gets arrested and hung up.  It is a scam, report to the proper authorities

same message as above from a man with an accent.  I viewed a news report the other night on this scam; i received two messages.  He also said he was from the Department of Legal Affairs.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
