Same thing.  Steve Martin (did not sound anything like the real Steve Martin), from the Department of Legal Affairs warned me of a "big mess."  It sounded completely hoky, but I was glad to find these other posts, confirming my suspicions.  Thank you.

Got the same message. 909-666-8077. Warned me that retaining an attorney may wind up in a big legal mess for me.

Same exact message this morning!

I got this call at 7:55am CDT today. I didn't answer but I got a voicemail message with the same info everyone else did: "Steve Martin, Department of Legal Affairs at US Treasury," warning me of a "big legal mess" if I had my attorney call him back instead of me. The number is now blocked and I reported it to the Treasury Inspector General, as suggested above.

my husband answered (they've called from Rialto, CA and Miami, FL - same guy - Steve Martin - threatening a federal lawsuit that could get us into really big trouble (LOL), so my husband is acting like he's very scared and can he help us! and then he laughed in his face and told him we are calling FTC on them, we've been tracking their # and info, and he hung up.  What a bunch of b.s.!  WHY do we all have to deal w/ so many scammers all freaking day long???  

Similar here, Steve Martin leaving 5 consecutive accented messages, unconvincing and incongruous with the anglicized name, on my home answering system saying that he is from the U.S. Treasury Department requesting a call back to help me avoid a big legal mess. Upon calling his number 909-666-8077, an automated voice response declares his and his VM's unavailability.  

I received the same call from Steve Martin threatening big problems and that I should get a lawyer.

Same thing with me. He left 5 messages  yesterday. Ironically, he chose comedian Steve Martin's name, as if he is making fun of us and also as in the "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" movie with Steve Martin.
The idiot didn't even realize that that his heavy accent raises the red flag (does not sound like Steve Martin, John Smith, etc.).
I am only talking about his wits, nothing to do with his ethnicity or origin.
Democracy is great, but how can such crooks walk free for so long and our law enforcement do little, if any, about it?

Caller from 909-666-8077 calls several times. Left voice message saying caller is Steve Martin, and threatens 'if for any you are not able to call me, I will retain an attorney.. and as a warning it will be a big legal mess for you'.  Has a distinct Indian accent.

Have received several messages from this same individual today.  Two from this number and then he tried calling me from a 786-486-0869 number telling me that I was wanted on a tax related issue with the IRS ... very threatening type phone calls.

Received a voicemail at 8:50am from 909-666-8077 Steve Martin with the US treasury.  To call back
Received a 2nd voicemail at 10:14am from 786-486-0869 Steve Martin With the US Treasury to call back and he threaten legal action.

Could not understand him cause of his accent.  Called US Treasury to report the Fraud and that he identified himself as an employee for them.  Also called my local police department to report scam for others in the area.

Received the same voice mail message as prior posts...from "Steve Martin" from the US Treasury Department 909-666-8077 blah, blah, blah....Do not feed into this.  Thank you to Kat & Mark for posting information on where to report this.  

"Steve Martin" called saying I was in for a "big mess" with the IRS if I don't call them back. He called a landline in IL.

Same voice message from Steve Martin from The Department of Legal Affairs for the US Treasury about an important issue.  Why would the government call to leave a message regarding an important "ISSUE" ....Seriously? Wished I was home to "speak" with him.

Received 6 calls from this very unprofessional person, also Steve Martin, with a heavy accent, that stated" If we do not return his call, it will be a big legal mess for you." Yea right....LOL!  Always left messages, but when I picked up the phone, saw the caller ID number, he hung up. Darn!   I was going to wish everybody in his family including him, a great reign of illness and misfortune and that the authorities are on to him and they know his location and he will be receiving a visit from them soon. ....oh and have a great day!
