They announced themselves as "Will Rogers" and said they were with the "Department of Legal Affairs for the US Treasury".  With a "VERY IMPORTANT" call regarding a legal issue with me.  BLAH BLAH BLAH Will's accent was so bad I think he went to India for english lessons.

I received a call from this number today.  After establishing that he was speaking to the person he'd called for, the man, who sounded like Apu from "The Simpsons," asked me if I'd received something in the mail.  I said, "Not to my knowledge, no."  He then babbled something about transferring me to another man who worked for either the FBI, or the IRS (I can't remember for sure.)  That man, who also sounded like Apu from "The Simpsons," asked me the same question about receiving something in the mail from the IRS.  I said, "No," & he said he had a copy of it & could go over it with me, but I couldn't interrupt him.
He went on to say that I was being charged with three things by the IRS, & one of them was Failure To Pay Taxes.  I haven't had a normal paying job in 17 years, so I wasn't thinking this was legit, but I was still kinda freaking out.  He said something about putting a warrant out for my arrest.  When he was done, I told him that I don't even pay taxes, & that I haven't had a normal paying job since I was 19.  He said, "You are unemployed?"  I said, "Yes."  He asked how long I've been unemployed & I told him, "Since I was 19, so that was......17 years ago."  He said, "You have been unemployed for 17 years?"  I said, "Yes."  There was a brief pause, & then he quickly said, "Be ready to get arrested, okay?"  I said in an annoyed tone, "Seriously," but by then, he'd hung up.

Receives a call from the the above listed number, stating that they were from the Department of Legal Affairs and that I had a very serious legal problem looming. IRS was going to issue a warrant for my arrest and if it wasn't for the East Indian accent and poor English, I would have hung up immediately. But, this was actually pretty good comedy if you want to take the time to play along.

I just got a call from 909-666-8085 from a man calling himself "Edwards Williams" although he had an Indian accent.

He announced himself as coming from the Department of Legal Affairs with the US Treasury.

He said there was a legal matter against my name and that I should call back or have my attorney call back.

Thank god for this site or I would have wondered what the heck I could have possibly done.

I just got a call from Edward Williams too (who later became Justin). Very thick Indian accent.  Told me we were on a recorded line and to be careful.  Said I needed a lawyer to represent me. The guy said that I made a mistake in my 2009 taxes and I was under investigation. That they had attempted contacting me and that a certified letter had been sent in June.  That the CIA and IRS was coming to arrest me in two hours. I'd be in jail for 6 months and I'd lose my job. And would not be able to be employed for 10 yrs. I was so scared. I called my brother and then we found out its a scam. [***]!!! I was shaking. Thank God it turned out to be a scam. I totally fell for it. 😞

I got the same call with the same Indian accent. I laughed and told him to bring it on!

Got the same call about 30 minutes ago with the same heavy accent (Edward Williams) from department of legal affairs and said that I need to call him or call my attorney, wife freak out but I Google the number (909-666-8085) and there it is a lot of people being called with the same scam! Be careful!

Got the same call from "William Rogers" for my son who no longer lives with us.  I was freaked too.  He also had very bad indian accent.  Said he was in serious legal trouble with the department of legal affairs of the US Treasury and there was a law enforcement action against him.  He needed to call this number back.  I called my son immediately, and gave him msg, but also warned him it could be a scam.  Went online, thank goodness for this site.  I can now see it was.  

Just received call today from same number 909-666-8085 stating he was from the US treasury and it
was very important to call Dean Rogers from the law enforcment dept.  there is a pending charge against me.
How rediculous... How do I stop this call ===he has called several times

I just got home from work and found a message on my phone from a man with a very thick Indian accent claiming to be from the Department of Legal Affairs from the U.S. Treasury.  He told me that I had better call back or if I was too busy to call back to get my attorney to call back, because serious legal action was going to be taken against me.  Really?  Serious legal action comes from certified, registered letters often requiring a signature as proof that the letter was received.  I knew immediately it was a scam, looked up the number online, and sure enough, I found the confirmation that it's a scam.  He tried to sound threatening and wished me good luck along with a few other things.  DO NOT MAKE A CALL to this man.  Legal action should be taken against him, and hopefully will be.

<sigh> There was a message from "Edward Williams" (in quotes because I do not believe he is who he says he is) for my husband advising he or his attorney needed to call back and gave this number. I looked online, saw the scam boards, but just to be sure I'll call the IRS tomorrow to confirm we're okay.
