A man told me I had a lawsuit against me when I asked what the case was about he turned the phone over to a woman saying I was in default with some loan company I never heard of. I told her I do not have a loan with them and she insisted that the paperwork had been filed and I will be arrested tomorrow. I said okay goodbye. Sooo we'll see what happens tomorrow.  This call has come in different phone numbers .

OMG!! I had the exact same call with the one before saying that he was from the investigation of federal agents and that I would be arrested if I didn't  pay it today. He wanted to stay on the line till I made the payment. Said that it has to be the green dot money pak . Said it had to be paid now or I would be arrested w/in 30 minutes. They were very hard to understand w/ a Spanish or Mexican accent. What a scam!!

Debt is civil, not criminal, so no one is going to be arrested.  More info on this scam here:

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

About an hour ago I received a phone call at my work  from a guy by the name of John Cooper from the Clinton Law Firm saying that I would  be arrested because of a loan I didn't pay back. Very heavy accents and got real rude with me over the phone. After I got off the phone I decided to look up the number and found this website with all of these complaints. What a relief that was! About 5 minutes ago I received a call on my cell this time from a woman saying she was my arrest officer and would be arresting me tomorrow. I then proceeded to tell her I was aware of their scam in India and that our US Attorney General had been notified of their scam. She than hung up on me. I am sick and tired of the criminals out there trying to scam innocent people.

Got a message from this number.  Man was hard to understand.  Said he was from the US Treasury concerning a suit against me.  I should call him back immediately.  He advised me to obtain an attorney if I did not call back right away because I would be in trouble for not returning the call.  It is a scam.  That is why I let all phone calls go to the machine first.

I just got a call today - couldn't understand half of what was said. Someone named Nelson Moffan (?) from Dept. of Legal Affairs, US Treasury. Same message as Henderson, NV; said to retain an attorney if I don't call back right away. What I hate is that they know my name, and I don't know what other information they have or how they got it.
