It was "cardholder services" (company not stated) giving me my "final notice" to lower my credit card press 1 to speak with an operator, press 3 to be taken off the list.

I'm calling them back

Rings twice then hangs up. Called back twice.
The polite thing to do is leave a message and then let it go.
It is also illegal to harass people for bill collection.
I do not even have a credit card.
Cease and Desist letter will obligate them legally to stop calling.
Anyone got an address on these people?

Called number back.  Recording asked if I want to be added to their do not call list press 1.  I did another recorded voice said "thank you" then hung up.  Sounds like a telemarketer

Didn't answer but they left a message.  They said it was a call about how to lower my healthcare to as little as $3/day.  They said to push #1 for more details or #2 to opt out.

its a scam

they cannot do anything but steal your money - they will hang up if you try to tell to stop calling


BBB Warns Consumers of Robocalls Promising to Lower Their Credit Card Interest Rate

Consumers across the U.S. and Canada are bombarded with phone calls promising to lower interest rates on their credit cards,. Not only are the calls violate U.S. and Canadian Do-Not-Call laws, but some companies behind the calls are ripping off consumers by charging large up-front fees to negotiate lower interest rates with credit card companies—something consumers can do on their own for free.

Robocalls generally begin with recorded messages that include statements like: 'This is our final attempt to reach you since you've not responded to our other calls to discuss your credit card debt.' The automated message invariably does not include the name of the company, but may claim to be with Card Services or Card Holder Services.

After the initial recorded message, consumers must dial another number to be connected to a live person, who in turn asks for the consumer’s credit card number. From there, the operator begins closing the sale, asking if the consumer is willing to pay – usually from $700 to $1,000 - to have their firm contact the credit card company and negotiate lower rates.  

'The ‘negotiation’ undertaken by these companies can be as simple as calling the customer service number listed on the back of the consumer’s credit card and asking a customer service representative to lower the interest rate,' said Steve Cox, BBB spokesperson. 'Consumers are fully capable of talking to credit card companies on their own, for free, and getting similar results. Consumers simply don’t need to pay any company a thousand dollars to negotiate lower rates on their behalf.'

BBB has received numerous complaints about two Orlando-based companies, CSTR Solutions, Inc. and Genesis Capital Management, and one Tacoma-based company, Mutual Consolidated Savings. All are behind at least some of the robocalls and are promising to save people anywhere from $2,000 to $25,000 by negotiating lower interest rates with credit card companies.

According to BBB complaints, companies are also failing to uphold money-back guarantees and not refunding money in cases where they are unsuccessful in lowering rates.

Got called today for the first time at 10:17am EST, waking me up (I work 3rd shift).  I called back and got the same automated responses as K. They say the business name, but I can't understand what the name is.  They left no voicemail.  I need them to stop calling me, this is my cellphone and I have no business with them.  I am on the do not call list.

Called @ 2:05pm today.  I do not answer any number that isn't in my address book as most are fraud or trying to screw you one way or another.  Good luck Charlie Brown, you will not screw me!!!

I received a call from this number on my cell this morning.  This is the 4th call I've recieved in two days all from different numbers.  I don't pick up when I don't recognize the number.  Very frustrating!

They probably got your number from a company you do business with.  As long as they are calling on behalf/from that company they can call all they want unless you say do not call. if they continue after you say do not call press a law suit on them.  otherwise they can keep calling you legaly, I know its sad but if you've done business with anyone they can call for awhile after the fact.  Its been awhile since I was a telemarketer and that job reallllly sucks.

Well you certainly have the weak language skills that would qualify you for telemarketing work.  Fact is, most of the cold calls people get are from crooks who pay not attention to the do not call laws and are trying to steal money.  

This is why ALL telemarketing should be outlawed.
