This is a scam. My phone lets me know where the call originates from. The call came from Canada but the area code is from North Carolina. These people get these numbers to setup there scam and fraud businesses. Don't let them fool you. This one called saying it had to do with my name and ssn and to call them immediately. I blocked there number immediately instead. Beware!!!!

I hope anyone seeing this can clearly see there is NO legitimacy to this type of fraud. See how suddenly in the past month there are six pages abd counting In this thread on this one number? It will soon die down and another will start with a new number and that first scared little bird who got a call ... Ugh.

Don't block them. Log each call with number, date, and time. Make sure you are on the Do Not Call List. Let the calls build up and then sue them for $1,500.00 per call.

Mary Price, they have to send you a debt validation notice through the United States Post Office. An emailed notice is not acceptable. Read the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. It is in plain writing. A legitimate debt collector will adhere to the law and would know that the debt has to be validated in writing using the US Post office.
