on no call list

I've gotten about 100 or more calls from this # over the course of about 6 weeks from April 2010 to Memorial Day 2010 so far. Most times they hang up after me saying 'hello' a few times, but sometimes they breathe heavy like they are in heat or something and then hang up. I have called it back several times and gotten a msg machine like it is the Leukemia Foundation or something, but I believe it is a false msg.. I think I will file a police report tomorrow.

We are not able to make any donations at this time.  They will not take no for an answer.  Please tell me how I can stop these people from calling.  I am on a no call list but it does not stop it.

Charities are exempt from the Do Not Call list law.  

Ask your phone provider if its possible to block the number or assign it a "no ring" ring tone.  
Unplug the phone during dinner or when you are sleeping.

On my phone, any non-profit gets one freebie, after that I turn them in as violating the no call act..  Under the no call act, yes, non-profit organizations are exempt, HOWEVER, if you ask the organization to remove your name and number from their call list, they, by law, have to honor that request.  If that non-profit ever calls again, they are subject to the same penalties as any other telemarketer.  Per the FCC, you can actually sue the caller to collect up to $1800.00 per violation.

If the caller has spoofed the number, good luck trying to track down the violator.

File complaints through your local Attorney General's office (most of the time you can file the complaint online)  You can also file a complaint with the FCC at http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm
