- ChristineI have been receiving calls from this number as well. First I am told to call back a Lisa (something) can't make out the name because it is a heavy accent. Then I called back get told its for a Bakers and McKenzie law firm and the only address that I was given was Hoffman Lane in Campbell City, CA so I hung up. They then called right back at my job and left me another voicemail stating a lawsuit against my name and ss would be filed if I did not call back. Well I called back asked again who I was contacting was told it was David Harris Legal Services when I confronted the heavy accented man and told him then why am I being told the other name he asked why I wanted all this information and I said because your harrassing me. He said fine then we will have the police show up I said ok I will be waiting out front and he hung up on me!!!
- Caller: David Harris Legal Services or Bakers and McKenzie
- TurbohornThese people have called my office and my cell phone claiming they have a legal case against me. Very foreign accent, but their names are Jennifer McKenzie and Kevin Foster. I knew it was fraud from the start. I played along for awhile and then began to ask probing questions like, if you're in California why do you have a NY number? Who is the lead attorney at your firm? What is your firm's address. The caller then became very aggresive and began threatening me with arrest. I continued to engage him with questions and told him to please give me his contact info so that I can have my attorney contact him and file a complaint with the State Bar of NY and California as well as the attorney generals office in each state. What he said next took me by surprise. He asked do you have a daughter? I said yes. He then said I'm going to come down and f*ck her and your wife. I hung up. DO NOT give these people any information or be intimidated by them. They are total con artists and can't do anything to you.

- WillI too have received a call from these people stating that they have a legal law suit against me for fraud & criminal charges. But they never left thier name or @ least I couldn't understand it from the awkward accent that the person has. After reading the previous bloggers messages I'm not about to be bothered with this cramp @ all. Heck, it is as bad as they claim it is, then I too will be waiting for the police to come & arrest me @ work or @ home. This is a bunch of b.s.

- JudyI have been receiving calls from this number and about three others with the same thing. Threatening to sue me over credit I took and I didn't. They all have very strong accents, clearly not American, sound Arabic, and there's always a lot of noise in the background and laughing. One even started going through their b.s. and when a female laughed in the background, they hung up in the middle of the voice mail. Then called back. This is clearly a scam but how do I go about stopping these calls. They've got my work number!!

- JenaI too have been receiving calls from these people. They claim the same thing that I have committed fraud and they are going to send officers to my home and job to arrest me and take me to court. What a joke these idiots call from all different US phone numbers but guess where they are registered to? India! Obviously they are a scam, the only thing that worries me is that they know the last four of my social. I may invest in ID theft protection just in case. As far as these morons are concerned, my cell phone call blocker will be handling their calls from now on.
- SheMy mom got a call from "Jackson Thomas" calling from "The Lawfirm" saying that she was a primary and criminal suspect in fraudulent charges and if she didn't call them back they would have the police come to arrest her and her manager. My mom's a stay at home mom, she has no manager. When I tried to call back, it's a busy tone. Don't waste your time worrying.
- anonymous replies to M.L. Chaney| 2 repliesThis is a version of the you-have-committed-a-crime extortion scam and you are being...
1. charged with fraud or passing bad checks or embezzlement or
2. served with a court summons or arrest warrant or bench warrant or whatever or
3. located in preparation to being served or for a lawsuit or to be arrested or
4. whatever stupid crap reasons they will think up next.
And you have to...
1. call back with your case number or
2. confirm your address or SSN or whatever so you can be served or your papers can be processed or
3. pay $895 now to avoid paying $5,000 in court or
4. whatever stupid crap reasons they will think up next.
Beware extortion scams come in many flavors and they constantly evolve to stay one step ahead of the law.
The FBI warns about payday loan extortion scams here http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710
The BBB has issued several alerts on this scam, just google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"
Never do what they tell you to do but report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate. - duffthey have called me everyday and they threaten me, stating that they will come and get me and there is nothing I can do. There was alot of background noise and laughter. Very thick accent and it was almost hard to understand. I have since put a call block on their number, I hope that this works.

- Blecki| 1 replyThey called my phone, I ignored the call, they called my work. I looked up the number as he was feeding me some b.s. about being a rep. for a Sheriff's office. Found this.
I tell them, "I know this is a scam, don't call me. Everyone knows this is a scam, it's already been reported." He says, "Wait- Already been reported? What? The police will be at your work in 30 minutes if you don't comply!"
Call the number back, it just rings.
I can't block the number from my work-phone.
But, how can I get them to stop on my cell? They just keep leaving voicemails! - Blecki| 1 replyTried calling them again, they actually picked up after only 2 rings!
I said, "I keep getting calls from this number, please put me on a no-call list" just to see what they'd say. The person on the other end said something incoherent ("... [indistinguishable heavily-accented comment] followed by: Just a moment, please.") and then hung up. Tried to call back again, busy signal.
I will call back one more time just to see if they can verify that my work-phone will no longer be contacted. But, I'm fed up. - Blecki replies to BleckiCalled back to confirm, female this time.
She started to talk to me until I guess she noticed my number.
She said, "I'm not interested in talking to you. You spoke with my colleague and said you notified everyone that this was a scam and reported it to [insert company name here, I cannot remember what she said]." I replied, "I'm not interested in getting calls from you, either, so stop." She hung up.
I think it's funny that she said that, I mean --- if this wasn't a scam, how would they would know the name of the company that could shut down their operations, without me even stating one? I am going to keep bothering them until they stop bothering me, because ignoring them doesn't work.
Threaten them back and apparently they get the message. - sofineYes i had the same problem to, what i did was change my cell and close my account out and open another one.

- Shion| 2 repliesI have been receiving harrassing calls from this number. The heavy accent gentleman told me that I owe a payday loan in the amount of $14,000. I told him I never took out a payday loan, he proceeded to tell me that I have 14 fraud cases pending on my ss# in which he gave me the last four. I contacted my attorney and he advised me that this was a scam, if I ever put my info in the system to receive a payday loan, they got the info from that. I wish I could get them to stop calling and harrassing me but now I know it's just a scam.
