a person called me by the name of JAMES NELSON with a very thick accent and told me that i owed a credit card debt. he told me he had tried to reach me numerous times and emailed me about collecting the debt and said because i hadn't responded that a warrant for my arrest would be issued. i never received any documentation and when i asked to have them sent by email he said he couldn't. he said i was to be arrested at my job or my home. i told him i knew it was a scam and he should work on his accent and script. then i got a phone call from the police department in my city that said there were to issue a warrant. when i called back the police department and asked about the warrant they had no idea what i was talking about. i don't know how they were able to use the police departments phone number but the nice officer said i wasn't the first to call in asking about a supposed warrant. this is a scam don't fall for it although them being able to use my police departments number is pretty clever.

Your scammer simply spoofed the number of your local police dept.  so that you'd think he was the police.
Your caller is calling from either India or Pakistan,  most likely,  although there are other locations that are starting to scam also.   Ignore the calls or keep telling them that you know it's a scam and eventually they will move on to the next potential victim.

This heavily indian accented man who called himself Attorney Damon Marshal from the Sacremento CA District Atty's Office called me at work on 5.17.54. He left a voice mail saying he represented a Cash Advance company who had filed several felony charges against me and that the Sherriff's would be out to arrest me in 1 hour. When I called him back to inquire what in the world this was, he was very rude, I cried, I was a nervous wreck thinking I actually had an unpaid cash advance loan of 6 years ago...he told me if I purchased a Money Pak for $500.00 and called him on his direct line(not anyone else)-916-259-31360 scratched off the numbers on the back, gave them to him, he would call off the arrest order. I called the local police department after speaking with the Sacremento PD and District St Atty Office, who confirmed these persons were frauds,  I then called him back. My daughter also called them to obtain all info regarding this so called debt. They turned on us like nasty vulgar pigs. Calling us every gross name in the world, all the while we told them in our calm voices that they were being recorded and that all legal entities had been notified. Can't someone catch these nasty thugs!!! They even had a fake Police Officer call to harass us.
