I posted a beautiful mid century Kent Coffey credenza/hutch on Craigslist for $2000. It's about the going rate for the style/condition of this particular piece since it's rather rare. I was contacted by a "mechanical engineer" at Eagle Crest buying the furniture for his father in-law (I didn't ask or care about this information, but I'm guessing it will help match Google search keywords for other people researching this number/scammer) and wanted a detailed list of the condition. This is my first experience with a piece of [***] like this, so I typed a real detailed description and even included some photos - fool me once.

After we exchanged a few more texts, it was clear that this person was either very illiterate (probably a rare thing in the Engineering profession) or was not a native English speaker (probably not such a rare thing in the Engineering profession). So I still wasn't sure if this was a scam, but he kept using words like "asap" and "right now" and he kept talking about "my pick up agent." So I asked for his "pick up agent"s contact info so I could make sure that the company was licensed/insured (only a fool would let a civilian into their house to lift a 300 pound piece of furniture). He then replied that I could only talk to the "pick up agent" once payment has been processed. I then told him to go [***] himself.

May 11 2015. Had this number (916-389-1662) text me today about an ad I had on Craig’s List. He didn’t ask much about the item, just wanted to get money sent to my Paypal account. He Instructed me to open one so we can perform the transaction. I thought it was funny on how pushy he was!
I Googled the phone # and found this page. Almost word per word was what was text to me. He must have a template and doing this from a PC because the text were coming one after another faster than I can read them and they were long. If anyone see’s this phone # tell them to f%&# off!

Selling my truck on Craigslist, exact same MO as described. Pushy, illiterate and wants pay pal account. This guy is a scammer.

I listed a vehicle on craigslist and (916)-389-1662 texted me exactly what everyone else has reported.  Sounded skettchy so after googleing I found this website.

I was trying to sell some china and received text from Thomas Gemma saying they would pay full price plus all the shipping and handling charges. They said they put $600 for those costs in a pending payday escrow. All I had to do was pay the shipper $600 and the funds would be released to me, but I hadn't yet received any money or notice in my email account. Sounded fishy so when the buyer, (Jamaican accent likely) called me, I said to send me $600 to pay the shipper at which time he hung up.

Got the exact same message from this guy. Eagle Crest, buying my bike for his father in law, Paypal, pick up agent, etc. Now he's using an Ohio phone number, 234-401-7981. Be wary.

I just received the same Message. He now uses 321-985-3723

I also got a text along the lines of the mechanical engineer bit. Used the number 321-985-3723

Yep, got the exact same guy, buying a set of tires I had listed, for his stepfather, now using 201-987-5746

I got this guy also, buying rims and tires for his supposed stepfather. Wanted to make payment using Paypal, and wanted to use a "pick up agent". English is barely understandable and would text at all hours of the day/night. When asked where he is located he got really defensive. ***Scammers number is: 201-987-5746***

Got a very similar string of texts last night about a car I have for sale on Craigslist but the phone number is now a 432 area code.

1-262-299-6350 called from Eagle Crest buying my bike for his son in law. Wanted me to set up pay pal "right now"

Got the exact same story from engineer from eagle crest engineering except now it is a 503 area code. Trying to buy a combine now from Craigslist.

Oops.  It is a 530 area code.

The eagle crest engineer trying to scam by paying through PayPal is 530-523-8588.

Same MO as else reported.  Using a 201 area code this time.  A Thomas Gemma stated purchase was for father-in-law.  Mechanical Engineer for Crest Engineering & so on!  Extremely pushy to send money to Pay Pal but would be deposited after sending his shipper "Teresa Roberts" $1,000.00.  Never inquired about details regarding my item for sale on Craigslist.
Hopefully Craigslist will report this scam to FBI & Pay Pal!
PS: Once I stated I would check with Pay Pal he has not texted or emailed again!

Same here, trying to buy wheels and tires for his step dad. 925-310-7522 is the number he used.
