Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocker device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.

Google "call blocker" for more information, or visit Amazon or similar sales site.

If you cannot afford or use such a tool, then:
* Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
* Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.

* If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.

They have been calling me for 2 days. Now they are calling work phone. They tell me same exact thing. Over it!!

Most likely Indians cammers pretending to be state attorney general.  Right now they are pretending to be California state AG.
The scammers are using 919 area code for their scam.  Don't call them back and don't pick up on numbers you don't recognize.

IF you are located in a particular state they will say they are in the Attorney General's office of  that state.   Ignore them.  Total scam.  Indian accent should e a dead giveaway unless they are using some device to mask their voices.

Got threatening calls from 916-469-7510. Claimed they will arrest me. I believe it's a scam. I called the number while blocking my number and got a hang-up twice.

Hi This number 916-469-7510 has been calling me repeatedly at my work phone.  I am reporting as this a scam and someone should look into this.

Had these low life people call and said I would be in jail for about 9 about nine years, they said they can help me........ SCAM wow the things this world has people doing today.

I received about 8 calls right in a row from 916-469-7510, Anonymous and 916-469-7512. The man calling has a heavy india type accent.  He was calling my direct phone # at work. The first call asked if I had a lawyer and something about a warrant against me -  so I ask on behalf of what company he was calling but he would not answer that and then I hung up the phone.  He immediately called back and asked why I hung up on him. Sometime during the next 5 phone calls I told him NOT to call this number again but he did.  I could not really understand him and told him so and that his english sucked. I also told him I was going to call the police and I did.  The officer came to where I work.  There is nothing that the police can do but reassure you that there is not a warrant for your arrest etc.  The officer also said there has been ALOT of this going on in the last couple of months and I was not the only one to have called them.  So if you do feel threatened - call the police and the will let you know that it is a scam and not to answer the phone.  This is lengthy but I hope that it helps someone else out there.

just called me 10x from my 'states attorney' office, total scam have blocked them....

i got a call from an indian woman named Nancy Christian telling me she is with the state Attorney General's and is calling me about a legal complaint. And she wished me good luck if i didnt call back to fix this. She didn't say what it was redgarding and if she really was with the state AG then why are you calling my from a 916 # ? And when i called back it went striaght to a voice mail with no name or number(usually when you call a voice mail box itll say a personal message, you have call So and So please leave a message or just the number. This box didn't do any of that.) Wow people come on.

You can tell them they CANNOT call you at work and they have to stop!

I got a call today. From 1-916-469-7510 Said I could go to jail for 7 yrs for cyber space fraud. Had no clue what they were talking about. They called my work and my work emailed me the same number. I wouldn't pay so they had a app to our local police station and said that they were a deputy and if I didn't pay they would issue the warrant and pick me up. It's best that I pay. So I went down to the police station and reported it and it's a scam!! Fraud!! How can people does this?!!

call threatening arrest for several warrants ,to call them back immediately

called my cell, left a voice mail.  said there were warrants against me and requested a call back.  I love messing with these idiots. I'm gonna call them back and have a little fun,will probably tell them "damn, you found me. I'm an ax murderer and I'm gonna hunt you down" (what are they going to do, report me to the Mumbia police?).  Or I'm with the (make up a 3 letter agency), and tell them they are being monitored and the breach team is on the way.

I just got a call from this number and they told me I had a warrent out for my arrest on 4 account and that if i don’t take action then the local police will arrest me. So i called back and talked to some indian guy asking for my first and last name and i never gave it to him and then he hung up on me but now I’m freaking out that they can get my personal information.

Left me 4 voicemails claiming they were from the AG's office in California and that I had 4 com plaints against me and that they were going to arrest me unless I called them back...BLOCKED!

Thank you SO much for the tips w/ the 'dumb' cell phone...I'm only allowed 6 blocks by Verizon (laughable, as I get 15 scammers a day calling). This will change EVERYTHING!
