This number claims to be from state attorney general

It's all bs they're not from an attorney office they're like a dept collector

I just received a phone at my work stating someone was charging with me with illegal activity against my Social Security #.....what the heck!   The man on the line had such a heavy accent I could barely understand him

Just had several calls from this number claiming the same situation jcs.  I have no idea what they were talking about so I told them that I was reading these comments and knew they were scammers.  He hung up on me

Indian accent thick as molasses.   Lady tries to tell me she's with the California attorney general.  

Total scam.  Ignore.  

Seems to be more Indian scams claiming to be California law enforcement these days.   Stupid really--most people would know that  California authorities wouldn't deal with social security in any case.   The grammar and syntax is terrible too, it sounds like they are saying my SS# committed a crime somewhere in California.   Jerks.

They just called and asked for a co-worker who could not come to the phone so I asked if I could take a message and a man with a very heavy indian accent said the same thing to me as jcs.....total scam!!!!
If it was real they would never tell me about someone else I work with.

Yes...this # is a total scam....everyone has a strong indian accent, they threaten you with arrest warrants and that your local police dept will come to arrest you if you don't pay whatever amount they claim you owe. They said I was being charged with several cyber crimes (WTF!?!?) They even had a woman call me that showed her caller ID as my local police dept saying that if I didn't call the other guy back and pay what I "owe" they were going to come arrest me. I told them to do what they had to do and yet, I'm still here. I called my local police dept and they said that people have a way of manipulating the # that will show up on caller ID when they called you. He assured me it was a scam and nobody was coming to arrest me. Now...I'm calling them and harassing them. They don't like that!

It's a total scam...they did this to me a few weeks ago...they claimed they were the State's Attorney General's Office and claimed that I was being charged with several cyber crimes which of course was bullsh*t....I didn't fall for it, then they had a woman (all had indian accents) call me claiming she was an officer from my local PD and if I didn't call the guy back and settle this within 5 minutes she was going to come arrest me. I called my local PD, they assured me it was a scam and nobody was coming to arrest me. A few days ago, saw a news report about these scammers claiming they're from the State Attorney General's Office or Local PD offices or Law Offices...all a scam!

Yep...they called me to and threatened to arrest me and my employer. Said that I was being charged with cybercrimes, etc....complete bullsh*t!

916-469-8684 Called our company looking for an employee.  I'm an attorney, so when the person claimed to be investigating a fraud case with the State of California Attorney General's office, I was suspicious. They volunteered too much detail, and had nothing official to say.  They gave an extension number.  I was curious so I called back.  The same heavy Indian accented man answered and claimed to be an attorney.  
I asked him what state he was licensed in.  He got upset and said I was the criminal and he was the attorney and I do not have the right to ask questions.  I laughed, then asked what his bar number was.  "What my bar-code is? Sir, I do not use bar-codes!"  haha what a joke.
I started to explain that a bar number is the license # of an attorney and that they should always be able and willing to present their bar number whenever they claim to be an attorney.  He hung up.
Clearly fraudulent using the state of California as an authority.

Called for one of our staff & it just didn't sound right. Very thick accent, telling me way too much personal information. He claimed to be from the "State Attorney General, Crime & Civil department". Everything reported above seems to be true. This is in no way a legitimate call and should be ignored.  

8/7/2014  I had a phone call today from 916-469-8684.  The man on the phone had an Indian accent and told me he was from the California Attorney Generals Office.  He told me if I didn't settle this matter the police would come to arrest me.  I hung up the call and a woman called me back saying she was from my local police department.  When I asked her name she didn't give it to me, said all I needed to know is that she was badge #814.  I asked for her phone number at the police department and she gave me a totally different number from my local police department.  I called my local police department and the officer said not to answer their calls because its a scam.  Scary call, but when he said to go to the bank to get the money to settle my debt, I became suspicious.  Totally a scam

Yes I just got a call from this number, same story as above, he said I had three federal crimes against me from the irs for filing a false credit app for a loan. He demanded 3,000 dollers to keep the warrents off me. I asked for info as to were to send the money and he refused to tell me. Total crap.

WATCH OUT FOR THE PERSON CALL FROM 916-469-8684...A HEAVY INDIAN ACCENT STATING HE IS CALLING FROM THE STATE ATTORNEY SACREMENTO CALIFORNIA AND THAT SOME CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED AGAINST ME IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA..REALLY, WHEN I HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE...I TELL YOU THESE PEOPLE DO ANYTHING THEY CAN TO GET INFORMATION OUT OF YOU....MY MY THESE PEOPLE ARE FULL OF IT....

This same number contacted me who are these people we need to file a police report

I just got a call from the number on my cell asking for my husband (who uses my number for everything) when I didnt answer they called my job, I answered and when the person started talking I told him that I knew it was a scam and not to call my job anymore, I hung up , he called back 4 times and hung up each time. Something has to be done about this.

They totally called my job talking about I have criminal charges pending against Me for some loan and they were sending the police to my job and my house..Very heavy Indian accent..... Wtf?!! Totally fraud.

I just recieved a call and said it was urgent that i call a attorntey named george malaski or a warrant was gonna be issued for my arrest and its criminal charges on my soc sec##. i looked up george malaski lawyer and couldnt find one. i did find a george malaski that is incarcarated and a few that are deceased. they have called 6 times in 15 minutes

Just got same call, they call me like 10 times a day and I don't pick up. Called it back and the woman answered the phone "Attorney Generals Office"
