This guy (name also Will) wanted my Debit card info to sign up for a online computer repair directory. Scam?

I posted an ad on craigslist for computer repair.

This is apparently just another scammer looking for a victim.

He's a scammer, asked for my debit card to.

*sigh*

"Will" called to send me business.  Don't call him.

"Will" called to send me business too...didn't return phone call..Sounds too fishy.

A guy who said his name was Will Rider with Zack's Cleaning Service called me and asked me to call him back if it was ok for him to send some business my way. This seemed really strange to me considering the area code was 917 and not anywhere close to where I'm actually located so I came online to check the phone number and found this place. I'm not returning the call.

Got a call from this number and the guy said, I'm sorry, Greg, I have the wrong number.

This guy called me just now, left a voice mail saying that he will send me some business, im in cleaning industry,... someone know more about this ?

called 6:30 am..just hung up, no words...

I received a message from this number just saying his name was Greg and to call this number. Googled the number first and found this.

I just realized the same person emailed me. His name is Greg Young and his website is yext.com. He charges $399. to list your business on all the sites that are actually free if you do it yourself.

He left vm and then called back again and I answered - wanted business partner by first name??? Who are you I asked? Claimed we were looking at his site and needed help getting good exposure for our business. Called himself (and caller I.D. verified it) VENT INC. Obviously using site tracking system. Abruptly told him we don't seek any assistance for our business by someone calling us and telling us we need help. We aren't that trusting (or stupid) and know how to make the contact from OUR end to reach someone. "Greg" hung up.

Got a call from this number. Said his name was Greg from "E.X" and asked me to call him back. No other information. No intent to call him back. I have no dealings with this company, have never heard from them, and don't respond to vague voicemails.

Yes... that person named Greg has called my number 3 times.  Each time he say's... "Hi Bill, this is Greg and I need you to call me back."   His company is yext.com  - they provide you a snapshot of where your company is listed.  They show you about 25 sites, like Mapquest.com, and if you're listed.

Wrong tactic Greg!!!!  If someone doesn't state specifically WHY they want me to return a call... they don't get it.

I agree with nancy, bill, Michelle, & erik. Greg has the wrong way of doing things.

I visited yext.com yesterday afternoon and I got a call from a Greg this morning. He left me a voice mail. I googled the number and ended up here. I know everybody is entitled to make a living but as a small business owner it becomes too much to be bombarded by many different advertising companies.

I know it takes money to generate business but how does one decide which company is credible and has good intentions of actually generating business

Why is everyone so rattled about getting a call from yext.com? they have been around since 2006 and raised $65,000,000 from investors to fund their business marketing system. I gave them my email and number and Greg said to call him. OK.

I am actually a real business who: R U READY? SELLS things to people - you know, like I do something valuable and actually want this money stuff for it.

So for all of your who will wind up alcoholics b/c you got a goddam phone call, here is MY advice; disconnect your [***] phone lines. I am not affiliated with yext. BUT I am a small biz owner and cannot stand some of my own kind who [***] when another company calls them.

Yes we sell things. The differences between my company and yext.com...the customers call me, I don't bother them and I don't sell the cutomers what they can already get for free.
Back under your rock with you scammer...be gone before someone drops a house on you too!

If you filled out Yext's inquiry form, you gave them your name and phone number. They run the promo as "See where your business is listed online" and then they ask for all your info as though you're going to get listed on all these local sites, but instead you learn it's ~$1144 for their service.

Then they "follow up" with you if you don't check the box asking them not to. It's a legit service, but kind of an obnoxious way to market it.

I just got the call myself after filling out their form but they didn't leave a message. Maybe they noticed at the last minute that I'd asked not to be contacted.

Anyway we small business owners gets these calls all the time, if you incorporate, register a DBA, or do something else that marketers can pull data on and know you're probably buying certain services at this time.

If you want to list your business in online directories, we do it at righthandplanning.com and we use even more listings than Yext and for a lot less money. Packages start as low as $150 a year for us to do all the data uploading for you.  So there's MY sales pitch, but I hope I added some value first instead of just hiring people to cold call you :-)

This number belongs to a company called Yext. They do optimization/citations for local business listings. It is not a scam. But there are better companies out there to work with.
