Text claiming to be Medicare enrollment

Text saying my wellness Medicare  check is due and to call them at the number above.

Received text regarding Medicare to call back. Individual dust refused to identify their company, then claimed to be from the US government. Then when I called his bluff, walked it back to working in partnership with the government. Then hung up when I asked for a company name. I tried again & requested a supervisor that he just handed the phone to, who also hung up on me when I asked him to identify their employer.

The number 917-210-7678 keeps texting me saying I’m due for a wellness update. And continued saying as part of your routine care, we need to review your current health status etc and that they were a Medicare covered company.

I called Medicare, not the number listed, but on my card.  They said they don’t have the ability to text.  She also said that they are most likely a scam.  Don’t call the number on the text.  Medicare never texts you personally.  That my text message was phishing to get my personal information.

They text me and have even called me the past 2 weeks.  I delete my text messages and hang up on them when they call.

I reported it to the Medicare fraud department

They texted me and said it was time for my health wellness check. I called the number back. They wanted all this information. I said who is this. They wouldn't tell me . I did not give them any info. I said that they usually do a video visit. He then hangs up on me

Although some medicare advantage plans call with health and wellness reminders, this one may be a scam attempt.  Call back to the number gets "I'm sorry that is not a valid extension."  Makes one go "hmmm?"  Never a good idea to give personal information to an unknown caller.  Call your medicare provider using the number on your member card or the published number if you need a wellness check up.

Considering other posters here (like "Kelly") report talking to someone at that number, the scammers may be checking the incoming Caller ID against a database of numbers texted and routing positive matches to a scammer and negative matches to an "error" message.

Ah...yes, that would be a clever scam process.

I have been receiving text messages stating that the person I am POA for needs a wellness exam. He said he would have to speak to the person I oversee. When I told him that wasn't possible, she's incompetent, he hung up on me.

I just got that same text. A scam!

Just received a text from this number. As a reminder, Medicare does not call you uninvited and will never text you. Please do not call the number and give information or give any of your information over text. If you’re not sure, call the number on your Medicare card. If you have Medicare Advantage, call the number on that card. Be safe everyone!

"Michael" has called AND texted with the same message: I've missed my Medicare-covered wellness update and that my benefits may be affected. He goes on to let me know that I need genetics testing. The call back number is 917-210-7678.
