Suspect this is a scam. Posing as a collection agent for City of Philadelphia, but the number is from New York. They have called our home phone numerous times, when they are told this is a residential number I was asked what our business phone number was wouldn't a collector hired by a city already know that!

Received call from number and the caller wanted me to verify information for him "before" he would tell me whom he represented. Needless to say I hung up. Reverse caller look up says it's a cell phone number.

Pioneer is apparently a legit collection agency and is a subsidiary of Sallie Mae.  I received a call out of the blue from them and refused to provide any info until sent me something in writing.   When I saw this post I checked with the City of Philadelphia Department of Revenue and it appears that they do represent Philadelphia for the collection of Real Estate Taxes and some business privilege taxes.  They are even referring current year real estate tax balances out to agencies.

Called presented himself as a "Credit Recovery Company" with a business proposition for me. He asked to verify my home address because "the law requires". I responded that to talk to him he needs to give me his home address. he refused and I hung up.

    Don't get scammed
The message was a mess--only thing that is clear is that this is a scam.

I think they were trying to claim to be Well Fargo, but they instead asked to speak with the owner of Wells Fargo.  Got a scam text claiming to be from Wells Fargo yesterday, so it seems to be a concerted effort.

    Tired of Harrasing calls
They keep calling saying my husband owes back taxes on a property in Philadelphia. My husband has never been to Philly much less own property there. We confirmed that they have the wrong person and they still keep calling.

After a quick recorded blurb saying this call may be recorded, caller asked for someone by name that I never heard of. Told them they got the wrong number, caller apologized all up, down and around then asked again about the person that I never heard of. Duh, wrong number means that person does not answer my cell phone. Repeated that they have the wrong number.

Sounded like a collection agency more than a sales scam, I give absolutely no information other than "wrong number".

Same here, caller said he had an important business matter but couldn't discuss it until I "verified my idendtity" by giving him personal information. Um, no!....
