I rec a call from 1-917-932-0017 said dept of U S Dept Of Treasury said i owe fed tax I do not told him to come and get me

I received a recorded call from "Kevin Mason" on June 15th.  Called back today just for fun - I am bored with the project I am working on!  Pranked the woman who answered and kept her going for a while but finally got the woman  to call me a "stupid [***]"  and hang up on me.  I'm not proud but it was fun - besides while I pranked her she wasn't scamming someone vulnerable to it.  Anyway on a more serious note this number is still up and running two days later - I think usually they switch the numbers out after a couple of days. Same IRS/treasury call that everyone else is reporting, but I thought he said his name was PERRY Mason.  I was gonna call back and say my name was Della Street.

Received the same call. I knew it was a scam. Luckily it was a message on our machine and we didn't actually talk to this person.I will report it as well. The area code says it belongs to Brooklyn NY.

I was originally contacted by a automated message from this number 510-779-0017. When I returned the call the man hung up on me. I called back and he hung up again. I was then contacted by this New York number 917-779-0017. Both numbers claim to be the Treasury and both people have very strong Indian accents. When I asked why I was called, harassed and hung up on the lady hung up as well.

I got a scam call from this number on June 19 but have also gotten similar calls from #559-853-1507 back in October 2014, and #510-779-6234 on June 16, 2015.

Just got several calls from Kevin Mason (917.932.0017) supposedly from the Federal Government "calling regarding an important criminal matter I am being pursue for".  Heavy Indian accent - complete scam.  Don't bother calling back.

Got several of these in the past from Mason but two more today.  I happened to be home not doing anything in particular so I got curious and called back to screw with them.  Got some Indian guy that I think said his name was Mack - call quality was abysmal.  He said though I paid my 2012 taxes they'd discovered an extra outstanding balance of almost $5,000.  He wanted to send two agents to my home to "take me into custody" as he said that was the only option available 'at this point'.  I figured that was a scare tactic to get me to beg for any other way out, so he'd follow up to get my credit or debit card information.  Pretty darn bold.  I know Indians don't like dogs (considered unclean animals in their society) so I told him we was lower then dog [scat] and hung up.

Same Kevin Mason! Today alone I received 7 to 8 calls within two hours or so from this guy. He has an Indian accent. Wish I could talk to him, and give him some medicine that only the Punjabis can give to scums like him and others who prey on people, especially the elderly!

Same phone call. Three times today. Also the same phone number given, the same number on the caller ID, and the same consequences.

I called the number back and got a Indian woman.   I told her I reported the scam to the ACTUAL Treasury Department and she just said "Thank you" and then hung up.

They should be pretty easy to find and arrest.

Call from "Kevin Mason" regarding "Enforcement Action" by US department of the Treasury.
"This message is intended to contact YOU".    You will need to appear before a superior court magistrate...some kind of Felony Act...    ... this is a second attempt...." etc.     Call me (Kevin Mason) to help.

I wonder how many more times I will get this call today.  Just like a series of them left weeks ago.  (I think the NAME left was different then).

I hate this man, whoever he is.   Why can't anything be done to stop these frightening and harassing and lame-[***] calls?

Got the same call today also.  One thing you can do to avoid further calls from this number is (if you have call forwarding capability for a specific number) you can put the number in your call forward list for it to be forwarded to 202-622-2000.  That is the US Treasury Department number.  So the call will ring there !   But of course report the call you initially got.

These annoying robo calls need to stop NOW

Tody around 11:10 am I got the same guy " Kevin Mason" calling me but the number was diffrent. the last four digits were 0018 so rest assure that it's a scam of some sort.

Received a new scam call today from "Kevin Mason" at (917) 932-0017. Claiming to be about a serious matter with the U.S. Treasury Department. This is a scam! Do not call back! The US Treasury department does not use pre-recorded messages. We are in Northern California.

The "Kevin Mason" recording uses a variety of telephone numbers for their crimes. I've received calls via this number in the past, but today The Kev called three times from (646) 759-4938.

I am in California too and on T-mobile. Got the same call from this guy Kevin Mason # 6467594938. First call when i answered it was just blank as if my phone is dead. During the second and 3 attempt i didn't answer it went as missed call. After a little while I found voice mail from #805 637 7243. Hearing the message scared me a bit, as I am here on visit for a short time, my friends told me this is scam. I am going to block and report to TMobile. Dont know what else to do.

Same thing. I am at work and this number has called me saying the same threatening message. I googled Kevin Mason and he is all over this page. Upon returning the call, it said the number was invalid. 917-932-0014

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.
