9257380226...I have a Wamu credit card, and have used it recently, but (rhetorical question) if they're calling to see if I'm using my credit card, or someone else is, why wouldn't they leave a message? Needless to say, I haven't been answering the calls, because caller ID doesn't display a name. I think it may be Wamu, but they're calling to try to sell me something.

It is the WaMu (Washington Mutual) credit card fraud department. It is an automated recording asking if you made a particular transaction. If you say yes, then you probably don't have to talk to a real person. If you say no, they transfer you to a representative for more info. You should answer if they call. It turns out, someone was using my card without my knowledge. They are crediting my account for the transactions and closing the card and giving me a new one.

1st I Love this site. If it hadn't been for it I would have never gone any further & someone HAD stolen my card number. What I did after I read this site was go to www.providian.com and tried to signin. It would not let me & gave me an 800 number to call. It was the WAMU Fraud department. There had been 2 transactions that were fraud & they did the same as for Heather 9/13 & Richard 10/9. I suggest if you are uncomfortable with giving information to some calling you then get on line and get that 800 number and call them. They do ask for cell phone numbers which bothered me. She told me they would not call them... If they do later and try to sell something I will get back on here and let everyone know. Thanks for this Site....

I received two calls from this number and ignored them both.  My phone only indicated the calls were from California.  I attempted to call the number back but only received busy signals.  After reading the information on this site, I checked the WAMU website (as I have a credit card with them) and I called the customer service number listed on WAMU's site (1-800-356-0011).  An automated service answered informing me of recent activity on my card and asked for verfication.  So if you are unable or afraid to call the 925-738-0226 number then call WAMU customer service directly at the 800 number above.  I was given this number after I was blocked from logging into my www.wamucards.com account at this link: https://www.wamucards.com/ola/base/LoginBlocked

Got 3 calls from them, I let it ring (on my cell phone, I did check my wamu account online and I had my cell phone entered, and my home phone is an old number) No messages. 4th call I ignored the call and gave them a busy signal. They left a message.
I listened to the message saying it was Wamu Fraud and it was a call to someone THAT'S NOT MY NAME, with a Debit Mastercard ending with A DIFFERENT number than what I HAD. They said to call 866-565-5785
I did call that 866 number and it was Wamu's fraud dept, automated message asking if I was calling form the number they called me at, I said yes but it read the wrong number, I said no and entered my cell phone that they called at, then they asked if I was the person I said no, and automated message said to hold on and be sure I have my account number. I waited 5 minutes on hold and hung up.
    I can't find that 866-565-5785 anywhere.

I received a call from 925-738-0226. I could hear on the voice
mail the automated system saying it was not a telemarketing call
and was for me. I searched Google for the number and found this
website. Don's post above is exactly right - I followed it by
calling the customer service number and after entering the last
4 digits of my WAMU card, an automated system asked to verify
some charges. I had allowed my son to purchase some tools for
an on-line game, just $18. Thanks Don and good work WAMU in
monitoring my charges for even this small amount.

This number is a phishing scam. The automated answering machine makes noises about a ficticous transacton and uses your name and the last 4 digits of your WaMu account.  After you indicate it was an unauthorized transaction they patch you to an operator.  The first thing the operator does is ask for your card number.  Next would be to make you confirm your possession of the card by telling them the security code.  It's a fraud.  When I asked her why she needed my card number she hung up.

I'm reporting them to secret service.  The number goes to fraud central in Pleasanton CA.

Got the call, from 925-738-0226.Googled the number, found it to be wamu fraud.tried to log into my online account, got denied.Called the number provided online, and found out my card was hacked. It was taken care of immediately. It is NOT a phishing scam, but to be on the safe side,I always call direct, the number provided by them,I don't answer phone calls like that. Also,to be on the safe side,10 min.after my call with wamu was completed,I called back, and, using my [now dead]credit card, tried to use their automated system.I got a message saying the card had been reported lost or stolen.Good job,Wamu.

I also got a call from 925-738-0226, I called the 800-356-0011 and was told that someone was trying to use my card. Customer service canceled my account and issued me a new number. However per Wamu the 925-738-0226 is not their fraud number.

I received 2 phone calls from 925-738-0226 today, so I went to the web-site and it said to call customer service.  As it turns out a charge was made at a Target store in another state for $183.30 and I have been home all day with my card.

Definitely not a scam... I had two calls... didn't answer either of them... but after checking around and realizing I hadn't used my WAMU card in years, called a WAMU number from their website, was then transfered to the fraud department.  Someone was using my card in Washington state... saved me... call a number from the website and go from there if you are unsure.

This is the fraud detection unit at Washington Mutual / Providian Card Services.  As others have stated, your best course of action is to call the 1-800 number on the back of your card if you receive a call from this number.  I just did and found someone tried to use my card to by $2640.68 worth of stuff in Florida.

i worked for wamu fraud dept in pleasanton cal.. That would not be a scam. People tend to hear they need to verify info and get spooked. they do not ask for security numbers becasue as an emplyee you are not allowed to see that #. only the customer in pocession of the card. Im sorry you feel this was a scam but in that department we did everything we could to prevent you card info from being compromised. In another case people do open cards with other peoples info and if we catch this we notify both parties as to make sure there is nothing fraudulent and everyone is aware of the situation. Do your homework better next time then getting people so upset and worried about fraud when we make thats in all efforts to prevent that. Imagine beiong on the other end of that line where people yell at you all day because you are doing your job. We get hng up on and cussed out. Not cool. So no again, its not a fraud issue it is a real number with real hard working people doing there best to protect from fraud. Call the secret service, they will laugh.
