- DeedeeIndicated as UNKNOWN on my caller ID, did not leave a message. I get a call from this knee every once in a while.
- Deedee"Knee"? Really iPad?
I meant to say "number" in the post above, but Apple felt "knee" was much more appropriate. Darn me for not reviewing my posts first. Lol, sorry! - GambedaCaller asserted he represented Florida police association and wanted contributions. Since I pay my own mortgage I decided I did not want to contribute to his rent.

- Lily replies to CindyThey lie and omit details.
They do not have anything to do directly to Florida Troopers, any of the Sheriff's Departments or city police officers.
The money goes to different agencies called Fraternal Order of this or that.
They also use outside companies to make their calls. They have tried to intimidate our parents, they have tried to guilt us by saying you don't care about those who put their lives on the line for you.
They sent tickets and bill to my parent's house. I called them up to find out what was going on. They said well your parents ordered these. I was like someone is lying and the man got rude. I was like my parents have been out of state for the past 3 years (they were taking care of our grandparents) then the man was like well someone HAS to pay for those tickets and YOU have to send them back. I was like no I don't and what you are doing is illegal. I work for a city and my brother is a deputy for another county. Let me go to them with what your threatening me.
Another thing is we HAVE blocked over 45+ phone numbers that all go back to this so called Fraternal Order of the Police, Firefighters.....
So here is another number we will be blocking. These people are the bottom of the barrel and their unprofessional manner is why people do not donate to them. BTW, contact your local law enforcement agencies if you want to donate and ask about these people. There are ways to donate locally and make sure it goes to what agencies you want it to. - JohnI do not know why people keep falling for these low lifes. In central Florida, info is out all over that the police organizatons never, never, request donations over the telephone. One scammer was busted recently for this type of scam. Info has been put out in newspapers, TV, radio, word by mouth, and people are still falling for this scam, it would probably be best to never give out your personal info to anyone you do not know for sure over the telephone.!
- DonReceived a call from this number today, (Sunday! of all days, is nothing sacred to these guys?). They did not leave a message but I see it is yet another number used by the "charity" for Florida Law Enforcement Officers. Over the last two weeks I have been called by at least 6 different numbers from all over the state from this so called "charity". They have in the past harassed me to the point I felt I was going to be targeted by law enforcement if I didn't pay up by using men with very strong aggressive voices to scare me. Funny, I've never received a call from a woman from this "charity". They have also harassed my mother who is in her 70's, telling her that she OWED them money because on an earlier call they claim she said she would donate. They picked the wrong senior to try to confuse because my mother's memory is sharp and she chewed them out for lying to her. One of her favorite things to do when she gets an unwanted call is to talk to them for a few seconds, then tell them to hang on for a second, she has something cooking on the stove, she will be right back with them. Then she sets the phone down and goes about whatever she was doing before they called. They are left on "HOLD" for as long as their greed allows them. Time to make a formal complaint to the Senate and House of Representatives for MOB like tactics to force money out of people, repeated calls from different numbers, for calling very late in the evening, on Saturday and worst of all, on Sunday, a day of worship, not business. How many people are intimidated into donating? It should be illegal for any type of charity representing law enforcement to even exist due to fear of reprisal, real or imagined.
- IvanReceived call today, Sunday 5-18 at 1:23pm. Caller hung up without leaving a message. This is the second call in two days

\ - KHrecent articles at better business bureau, scam busters dot com and the fiscal times dot com indicate that there is a new scam that telemarketers and scammes are using. They are now using the spoofed numbers of regular people.....anyone who has a telephone number, small local businesses, friends or neighbors of the targeted phone call. The articles also state that the scammers have figured out that householders will not pick up the phone if they have checked and determined that the number in the caller ID is spoofed. By using the phone numbers of regular people and regular businesses (there have already been reports of "florists", "childcare centers" and elderly people randomly calling lots of different householders. The scammers are hoping to trick the householder into picking up the phone. Another new scam according to the better business bureau is for the scammer to call the target phone number.....using the householder's own phone number in the caller ID. The idea is to pique the householder's curiousity (or shock them) into picking up the phone to see why their own phone number is displayed the caller ID. The BBB warns against picking up these calls, but if you do.....do not press any buttons if you get a recorded message instructing you to do so. If you missed the call, do not call the number back and
do not give out any financial or personal identifying information
