- ElizabethI pick up, I hear the auto dialer beep back to him. Some static line starts up and I know right away this is another "scam". I say hello three times and suddenly an indian man says his name is Peter and asks how I'm doing. I say "Fine" and he then tells me he's calling from "C2 Tech" and hes calling about my computer. That it's "not responding to critical updates" and asked if I was aware of this.
You can only imagine what I made him aware of before hanging up.- Caller: C2 Tech

- I Chatted w/ PeterYes, Elizabeth. Peter's script was the same when I got the call you described. He told me he was calling on behalf of Microsoft, I believe. I took a more lighthearted approach and veered down a rabbit-hole of bizarre conversation, chatting asininely with Peter for about half an hour. It was a hoot, but kind of creepy too. He asked if he could call me back and I said he may, but I'd prefer he didn't. The first call was about 6-8 months ago, and the latest was just now - only this time it was a hang up. Oh darn! : ( goodbye Peter lol

- 4th call from MicrosoftI have gotten 4 calls from Microsoft now! Today, the caller (mumbled his name) said he was from Microsoft and that they are getting error messages from my computer that it is not receiving critical updates. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he said "you want to talk to my supervisor?" Then I asked to talk to Bill Gates and he asked "who?", I said the man who owns Microsoft, your boss. Caller told me Gates was not at their calling facility. I asked where he was and he said Texas. I said you don't have a Texas accent, asked where he was from and he said India. I told him my computer was fine and that I knew this was a scam. He completely denied it. I asked him my name and the little scoundrel told me my name. I asked how he got my name and number and he said "from your computer". I'm thinking "oh crap". So I told him he was calling me to get me to allow him to hack into my computer, hold it hostage for my credit card number and then charge all kinds of fees to release it after he took it hostage. He completely denied it and said "ok, if you don't want your computer to crash, you will allow me to fix it". I asked "really, it's going to crash?" By then he was getting angry and said, yes it is going to CRASH! I told him that would NEVER happen and he started in "how do you know? you are sending error messages?" I told him when people have issues with their computer, Microsoft does not call the customer, the customer calls Microsoft! I told him 3 times (he acted like he didn't hear me each time) that I was asking him politely to remove my name and number from their calling list, that I was tired of their calls and I was going to call the FBI and report them. He kept putting me on speaker or something because it sounded like he would get off the phone line and come back on and then ask me to repeat. I asked him if he heard me and he said no. So after the 3rd time, I just hung up.

- streetlight| 1 replyI just received a call (10/13/2014, 5:15 PM MDT) and the caller ID shows Fraudulent Call. Amazing!! I hope the phone company - Century Link - is now identifying calls a Fraudulent. Nice!
- GeorgeOk... this is just straight up hilarious... They just called me from this number and the caller ID displayed "Fraudulent Call". I am not kidding... that is exactly what it read. I answered the call and I told this indian guy on the other end that his caller ID actually read that. Of course he hung up after that. What is this all about? Is someone hacking their caller ID to warn people? If that's the case....sweet!!! I just hate all these parasites... The freaking FCC needs to do something about this problem!!!

- DaveJust got a call from this number this morning... some guy with a thick accent (Indian or other mid eastern?) called me regarding "my computer's security" I instantly recognized this as a phishing scam (got a nearly identical call a year and a half ago on my landline) and told him I wasn't falling for it and that I'm on the do not call list, he hung up immediately... I filed a complaint with the FTC
