Indian accented male at "US Financial" selling mortgage re-fis allegedly from Newport Beach, CA.

Same thing as the original poster.  Knew my full name.

The caller identified himself as Simon, from US Financial. He asked me if I was [my name]. When I wouldn't tell him if I was paying over 4% interest on my mortgage, he hung up on me. The number he called is in the National Do Not Call Registry.

I called back, but got a generic voice mail message. The recording stated, "please leave a message for [silence]." No name identified.

I am a sick man and this kind of calls made me to run to get the phone just to find out that is that "Company"rally do not want them to call me never again..

Just got called by this #, i did not answer and the caller did not leave message.

I received a call from this number. When I answered there was silence then the line disconnected.

Caller knew my full name but never responded after I said this was she... lots of noise in background. The number called is als on the DO Not Call... never identifed himself

I've missed 10+ calls from this number. I answered once and indicated that he had the wrong number but he continues to call. MAKE IT STOP!!!!

Modern technology has given telespammers the tools to call you.
Lawbreaking telescammers ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.

Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocking device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.

Google "call blocker" for more information.  There are available apps (some free) for smart phones, and services and devices for landlines.

If you cannot use or afford such a tool, then:

• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service.  Telespammers usually hang up after 3 or 4 rings.

• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete. If the incoming call was important, they would have left a message!

• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. (This also works for smartphones).

• Another option, for cell phones:  Assign a "silent ringtone" as DEFAULT.  Then, assign your favorite ringtones to all known friends / family / business numbers.  That way, you will hear rings ONLY from those you wish to contact!  You will not hear scammers' rings, even if they change their number!  (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers).

Same as many others on this site report. Man with Indian accent voice asked for me by name, knew my home address and called my cell phone #. Said he was with  "US Financial" Newport Beach, CA. I have been receiving calls from many 949 area code numbers for months. I Googled this company and find no such business listed. I requested to be put on the Do Not Call list and ended the call. I suspect identity theft attempt or an attempt to sell a predatory mortgage. Sure would like to get my hands around some of these [***] necks and squeeze until the light in their eyes goes out.
