Same.  Called to talk about our electric bill.  I told him to take me off his call list and he said "I don't have to".

Technically that's correct. No law in North America compels a telemarketer to strike, remove, or "take off" phone numbers from any lead list. Often they're working for a client which would forbid such tampering with their property. Ah, but if you ask for number placement ON an internal no-call list, then you mean business. The Telemarketing Sales Rule demands maintenance of such a list and a hassle-free method of adding new numbers on request.

This is not to say that the power bill slammers and solar panel pushers are all going to obey verbal demands. This is to say that some are happy to use your ignorance of the law against you. Using the law as written raises the stakes should you locate the business and decide to sue for relief.

Then the # came up on my recent calls as 949-830-5222. That was the lighting gallery. I called them. They said nobody from that # called me. DON'T ANSWER 949-264-2923.
