spam! "employee benefits program"

The telemarketer casually asked for an owner by their first name... I asked who was calling and he simply gave his first name.  Then I asked where he was calling from and he tried to casually act surprised that he had forgotten to say, "Oh! from United AMG".  When I explained I'm not familiar with that company and asked him to explain, he told me that it "has to do with employee benefits and that's why he needed to speak with an owner."  I actually handle all of the employee benefits and know for a fact we have no association with this telemarketing company.

This person called my business and asked for me by name. When I said, "Speaking," they hung up. I see from the notes here that they were a telemarketer.

I'm going to post this in every forum there is on these type of calls. I'm the HR Director at our nonprofit. About two weeks ago I got a phone call from these losers that identified themselves as United AMG Health Care Reform Program, and said they had a benefits package specifically and only for employers with less than 100 employees. I told him we had 240 employees. He said, in a very surprised voice, "You don't have just 24?" I said no, and he kept talking. I interrupted him, and I said, "I thought you said your program was only for employers with less than 100 employees. That doesn't apply to us." He said, "Oh, um, well, we also have programs for larger employers." I hung up on him. Fast forward to today. I got a phone call from a different person from the same company, different telemarketer, a woman this time. She says, amazingly enough, that she is called from United AMG and they have a health care program only available to employers with less than 300 people!!  I said, "Oh, that's interesting. When someone called me a couple weeks ago, when you guys thought we only had 24 employees, it was a plan for only companies with less than 100. Now that you know we are 240, all of a sudden it's less than 300 employees! Take us off your list and don't ever call us again!" I'm not sure if I'm more outraged at their unscrupulousness or at the fact that they think I'm stupid enough to not figure that out!!! Ridiculous!!

What possible thought process suggested that we called you,  your caller reads your posts here, or your post will effectively stop calls to you?

Called today asking for an employee.  Asked what it's regarding and man said employee benefits.  I stated that person had nothing to do with HR.  He asked if he could speak with some one in the company who does.  I asked what company he was calling from.  He stated AMG.  I said I handle HR and he hung up.  WTF?

Same weasels calling to drum up business pretending to know the business owner.

Scamming spammer scum.

There's got to be a better way for the government to shut outfits like this down. It doesn't matter if you're on the DNC list.

Every time one of these scammer spammers call it reminds me of overturning a rock and finding bugs and wiggly things scurry about.

Instead of showing the company's name the caller ID read: V62815053600008

Caller ID: UNITED AMG LTD 949-484-6960.  Same female caller called my place of work twice on Wed 7/5/17 from 949-484-6960, at 10:30am and 3:00pm.  She asked for my manager by name both times.  Both calls, when told my manager was not in the office, she declined to give a name or leave a message, and said she would call back again later.

Now that I see in the notes here it is a telemarketer, if/when they call back they will be instructed to remove our business from their list.

constant calls asking for me, I don't want to do business with them.  How do you get rid of garbage like this?

Make sure your phone ONLY rings with numbers you don't know if you can do it. If they're always getting an automatic or manual answer, they'll believe they can rely on that and continue bothering you. A call blocker may be of some help as well. Numbers that have nothing are faster to find their way onto pests no call lists than ones that do.

The phone number is actually valid and goes United AMG Partners.  I contacted them on their primary number and spoke with a representative.  It appears they are cold-calling businesses (or what they think for businesses).  I asked them to take me off their list.  Since they were stupid enough to actually allow me to track them down (rare with telemarketers), I filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org).  This will require them to respond to the complaint and work toward a resolution.  I demanded they stop their practice and publish a public apology.

Too bad people like the ones behind this scam aren't bright enough to succeed without scamming people. Losers.
