- WendyJust got a call from this number stating it was a representative from the Department of Treasury. Really? Am I not smart enough to realize what was going on? They said I had a pending lawsuit filed against me which is when I started firing back at the guy on the phone. I asked him why the caller ID said YMAX COMMS CORP and why his area code was from California and not D.C. Then I asked why couldn't you send the notice in the mail like the U.S. government is known to do? After that he asked for my address and said if he was who he said he is, then they should already know my address. CLICK goes the phone and here I am.

- BwanaGuy with foreign accent called stating he was from the District Attorney's Office and had an arrest warrant. This is a scam to scare people.
- JulieI received a message on my answering machine from 951-286-6458 about an important legal matter and I was to call back as soon as possible. I called back the next day and I was told that I had a warrent out for my arrest and asked if I received a form 086. I said I had paid the IRS recently and the matter was closed. They proceeded to say "that they audited my tax return from 2010 and I owed additional tax of 1800.00. I told them they were wrong. They said I would have an agent at my door in 45 minutes to arrest me for the warrent. I had to cancel appointments already made to research this. I am so glad to find out it is a scam because I have had a death in the family recently and have been going through many legal issues that I couldn't risk this. Thanks everyone for posting your comments and I will find the place to file a complaint. I will call back and get all the information I can in a couple of hours.

- SylI got called four times by them. I answered one time and the guy was singing to himself, I don't think he even knew I picked up. Said they were from the Treasury and I had an issue on my account. Couldn't pronounce my name and when He was leaving his call back number, he stumbled over it. Just ignored them, if it was official gov business it wouldn't be from California and I would have something in the mail.
- Bailey PHispanic male used my name saying he is from the Department of Treasury Legal and called twice left message second time. Said I should not call back and have my attorney call or IRS agents would be on my door step, but they never arrived. - A grateful senior citizen| 1 replyI received a call on our home phone at 7:04 AM this morning (6/26/14). The call came from (951) 286-6458. The male caller talked fast and said this involves legal matters regarding unpaid IRS taxes. He demanded to talk to my husband and threatened that he would be arrested soon if he failed to call Keith Nelson, badge #19631. I asked him several times for his name and told him that he was being very rude and to slow down so I could write down the information that he was spewing out. After several requests the caller finally said that his name was Ron Baxter. This was a very disturbing call and I am so grateful to all who have contributed to exposing this scam. Thank you for this relief by finding out the truth. I am trying to find a reliable agency where I can report this IRS scam.

- CTSaid they were from Department of Treasury, Department of Legal Affairs. The call was for someone I do not know. I have had my number for several years. Said there may be an issue that could cause her legal problems and she should have her attorney call them. I could hear several others talking in the background. The person leaving the message had a accent. He/She was talking very slowly as if they did were trying to hide their accent and trying to be "official."
- JayCeeGot a call from this number today. Left a message. It was a middle eastern woman stating the same as everyone else, I supposedly had a tax debt and needed to have my attorney call. I knew right away it was a scam. I called back and harass them, with my phone number blocked of course, and got a message machine. They have recorded the actual first few seconds of the IRS automated phone system to use as an outgoing message, but it quickly says their mailbox was full. Called back a few times and got the same thing. Damn..... I wanted to pretend to be for a government agency, like the FCC and tell them we are about to raid their residence for communications fraud. Oh well, maybe next time.

- EdSmithSrI am an enrolled agent and represent clients having tax problems with the IRS and states. One client received a call from this number and prompted me to look it up.
From the comments here and from my own experience dialing the number, it seems to me that this is an amateur, unsophisticated operation. More than likely it is a few kids having what they think is fun.
First, if it is an important matter, the IRS will send a letter and if it is very important, the letter will be certified.
Second, when someone from the IRS calls, they always recite their employee identification number. Third, the recording is
of poor quality and disconnects after a short time.
Has anyone called back and gotten a live person?
Regarding the area code , bear in mind that the IRS has offices all around the country, so the area code is not a good indicator that it is not the IRS. Some IRS area codes that come to mind are 510 Oakland, CA; 559 Fresno; 267 Philadelphia; 206 Seattle. - anon(They've changed the number and script only slightly) DEPARTMENT OF LEGAL AFFAIRS PHONE SCAM ALERT!
