The man that called is Hispanic, and he said that someone is taking me to court and I should hire an attorney. Sorry dude you have the wrong person. I tried calling the number that he gave but all I get is a busy signal.

Just called looking for a relative that has been gone since 2006. Hispanic and said it was a legal matter. I hung up and blocked the number. I hope this guy Rots in Hell.

How can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:

The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.

The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.

The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.

The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.

Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.

Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.

Stop speaking with the caller.If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.

Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).

They are trying to get money from innocent people. I called back and told him that I had reported his phone number to the Fraud Unit of our Local Police Dept (I did not). However, I did report the number to the 800-do not call Complaint divisio

We received a call from this number today 4-6-15  He sounded like he was from India, said he was the department of the US treasury.  He asked for my husband so I told him he wasnt home.  He told me his name was Adam Walker :)  doesnt quite match the accent!! haha  Anyway, he said it was an emergency that my husband calls him back.  I told him thank you so much for getting a hold of us!!!!  We will call you back as soon as possible!  Good grief!

Also got a call from guy with accent from "Us Treasury". I said, "Yea right" and he said, "Yes it is". I hung up.

Left voicemail indicating they are with Department of Legal Affairs & I or my attorney must contact them asap. Upon reaching the company, I was told I had reached the US Treasury and that the IRS would be prosecuting me if I didn't provide information about the person they were calling for. When I questioned if they were the US Treasury, I was hung up on and could not get through again, the line remained busy. I reported the number to the US Treasury as a phishing scam and hope everyone else who receives calls from this number does the same.

Got a call from Alex White.  951.643.8943.  From the Department of Legal Affairs telling me that a serious legal Matter has been filed.  Wanted me to call back.  When I did, he wouldnt respond and hung up.

I just recieved the same call 4-7-15 from 951-643-8943 the man states he's from  "The US Treasury Dept" the man had a heavy accent that sounded like he is from India. He claims his name is Adam Walker. I told him someone with a heavy accent as he has does not have the name Adam Walker and he proceeded to tell me I had better hire a really good attorney because my husband is going to be prosecuted and someone will be showing up at my home within the next 45 minutes to show me that he means business!  He then asked if we have a criminal attorney and if we did he wanted the name. I told him I was going to report his number for fraudulent calls and he hung up.

Received a call on my answering machine from Alex White.  Indian accent claiming to be from Department of Legal Affairs and a serious matter was being brought against my name.  I must call him back at this number.  I hope no one falls for this garbage.  These folks are trash and some day they will get what they deserve.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

951-643-8943 called twice yesterday, 4/8/15.  "Alex White" left a message.  Said he was from Department of Internal Affairs.  Department of Internal Affairs from where?  Yeah, right.  And I'm in "serious legal trouble" if I don't call back.  Couldn't understand a word he said.  Give it up losers.  I laughed and automatically deleted the message.  Thank you, everyone, for all of your posts.  I knew it wasn't any good, but glad I found your verifications!

Man with an unidentified accent left voicemail that he was Adam Walker from the Department of Legal Affairs.  He mentioned a serious legal issue for my son and threatened serious legal action against him. He said my son should call or have his attorney call.  He ended the threatening message with, "have a blessed day".

Received a message on my voice mail saying his name is Eric Foster (Indian Accent) with Department of Legal Affairs and there is an Enforcement action against my name.  I need to call this number back immediately or face legal actions.  It comes up when I do there reverse look up as a private number from Arlington, California.

Received a message from Adam Walker from the Dept of Legal Affairs looking for our son.  Suggested he retain an attorney .  Our son moved probably 12 years ago.  Good Luck Adam!
