I just got a call from them and they had the rude recording (can't say that i was actually scared) but I did a little reserach. I remember receiving several calls from the call back number they gave, but never acted on it until today. I called them back and a female announced herself but not the company, so I asked if this was PR & Associates. She said yes and then I asked her what they did and she said they were a debt collector. I told her this was a business and asked who she was calling. She gave me a name and in the 2 yrs that I've been here, no one has worked here by that name. She asked me for another person with the same last name and I told her that person didn't work here either. She asked for the phone number that was called so I gave it to her and she said that they would remove it. Hopefully they will. I did a little research and found a site with the name of Portfolio Recovery Associates. I don't know if this is the same company, but it sounds like it is by some of the posts. Did they pay you KLH to write that offensive note? Everything that I've read on the posts from everyone else is very similar to what I've experienced so it looks like you're the odd man out. Are they your employer or do you just enjoy stirring the pot. If what you said is true (besides the name calling and negative talks about others) then I am happy your experience was so great. But don't knock people down for telling what they know to be true.

got a message today that they have been trying to reach me.  it is a collection agency (PR ASSOCIATES) and when i told them i wanted their address so i can mail them a certified letter cease & desist, they would not give it to me.  he ended up telling me to google it and hung up on me.  btw, this is for someone else, not for me, and i have been getting calls for this person for years.

Got same message as above, called and got their answing machine.  Wanted me to leave message and phone number, which I did not.  They are calling me on my home phone.

had a message on my machine saying it was important that we call back right away--said they have left quite a few messages (not true!) Did not call back since I knew it had to be a scam

"Dan" or "Dave" (I never did get his name) called my family from this number.  They also called my brother's ex wife's parent's house and left a message.  I had my identity stolen in 2004 and have dealt with my share of these scammers.  A debt collector should ALWAYS be able and willing to provide you with a copy of a cardholder agreement (with your signature) or some other written proof of debt.  Refusal to provide these means that either 1. the debt is not valid or 2. this company has purchased the debt for pennies on the dollar, usually right before the statute of limitations kicks in.  (this is why they often offer you a "deal" if you pay them.)  

**I can tell you right now from experience that paying these scammers will NOT take these items off of your credit report99% of the time-they will often change the amount and keep on posting it, or they will sell it to another bottom-feeding company, so you'll have to pay someone else who promises to remove it.  This was my problem for 4 years until I contacted an attorney, all three credit bureaus and the FTC.  

So this time, "Dan" refused to send me any written verification and told me that I was wasting his time.  He said that he was not going to "jump through all these hoops" to provide me with the information I requested.  If this was a LEGITIMATE company with a LEGITIMATE debt, they would be more than happy to mail me something proving that the debt is mine.  I offered to mail in a check, and asked for the address and he refused to provide it.  My intention would have been to send a cease communication by phone letter and I'm sure he knew that.  These people call from blocked/unavailable numbers and then [***] because you have blocked yours.  They refuse to provide any written proof and/or verification of the debt, and therefore they will not see a DIME from me.  When I informed him that I was recording the phone call, he FREAKED out and hung up.  I called back and he told me to never call again.  

**The reason many of you might be getting a pre-recorded message is because California requires "two-party consent" to record phone calls.  I am in Vermont, and we only require one party, so I don't need to inform them that I am recording the call.  They don't want their calls recorded because they know they're in the wrong and go WAY beyond what they are allowed through the fair debt collections practices act.

If you are dealing with companies like this, PLEASE take the time to know your rights before you give them a single penny.

I just received the same phone message.  1-23-2012

Just got a call.  Sounded very serious and wanted to know my property address immediately!!
It's just scam.  I don't anything to anybody.  Why would I ever be so stupid as to give my address out.
My son is an FBI Agent.   I am passing this along.

They said they were a lawyers office and I was being sued. But could not mail me nething since I was willing to pay it in monthly installments. But could not give me any statements it would be electronically debited from my account. Them things just started not adding up. I just cancelled my card because of them.

tired of receiving this call almost everyday

Recieved several calls now from these very rude people who refuse to explain what they are seeking.

Called and female answered, told them we have no clue who you are and that we looked them up and told them that according to the comments, we should call The Attorney General's Office and report them and she said:  "OKay, have fun doing that."  Never asked me my name or anything.  Crazy.

Person on the phone:  crazy woman.

Don't be sucked into their intimidation.

First I received a threatening phone call, that was actually a recording, stating several messages had been left and it needed to be taken care of today.  No messages have ever been left on this business line before.  So I called the number to find out exactly who and what this was about, only to be hung up on by another rude person.  No one wishes to stand behind their attitudes and lack of professionalism by giving out their names.  They actually hide behind all of it and just hang up on people.  Third phone call...someone finally did give me her name, but laughed.  Nice professional organization who refers to themselves as an "Asset management company".
