A sales call for home upgrade company. The caller hung up on me when I said I was a renter.

I typically don't answer unrecognized numbers, however, since I have been doing work with vendors/contractors in around the San Berdo or Riverside area, I decided to answer.

I answer normally and quickly hung up. I don't understand why.

I have a theory: These callers are so use to getting hung up on or told off, that they don't know what to do when a normal call is answered.

I've also read elsewhere that these marketers are already on a defensive mode when recipient is simply asking to be removed from their calling list.

It should be like this: Forget about being on the no-call list, etc. It may not apply because the telemarketer has your number via other means, such as you filling out a survey card at the mall to enter into a drawing for a new BMW or you signed up at the last Open house you visited.

Now that you get the call, should you decide to answer, be gracious and say no thanks. On the telemarketer side, if recipient answers, be gracious enough to read your script, and remove us from your calling list and move on. You will be happier, we will be happier. Let's move on.

CID = VOIP CALLER, which is always suspect as well. Telemarketing scammers love VOIP.

Called and left no message. Seems to be characteristic of time wasting scammers.
